google should take page out of apple and find best apps from play store and start adding those in android.
e.g. widget creation from scratch, ui scaling at percentage, notification tilting option, setting toggle customization etc. generic ones and privacy/security ones like, mac address spoofing, most developer option without debugging. animation speed, usb awake, custom bootloader (that will option to replace by factory bootloader on phone reset), built-in open-source vpn profiles, timer-based kill switch, call redirect via VoIP, built-in universal telephone directory, built-in apps uninstall.

New android version nowadays be like "The notification bar will shrink 0.5mm, you will be able to turn on/off wifi with a single touch gesture, ram management is 2.5% more efficient..." along with a bunch of "AI" features that no one asks for

When you dont have anything to show, just make launch often and make huge hype of small useless things...
Google forgot that releasing new version is not only about number of features, but also optimization, and modders many times for many years shown, you can optimize android to level where you can run android 14-15 on phones that are 10 years old, so it show you dont need latest hardware to run it smoothly

It's just an opinion not a holy grale universal truth.
They are talking about products, not your mother, so why do you take it so seriously?
What do you mean by phone is a phone? Are you against choice? Should we all just buy your favorite brand Xiaomi? What are you trying to say? People are different and wanting different things, that's called preference, but noone is talking about that now except you.

Though I also hate the big pill control center since Android 12. Glad that Sony and Asus still continue using the small circle/square one from Android 11.
