jiyen235, 07 Nov 2024they invest heavily yeah but does it actually provide a hug... moreMaybe the US could stop blackmailing their business partners like ASML from the Netherlands. And going after RISC-V group that left USA to avoid sanction loving officials.

Huawei needs to work on the heating issue with their new Kirin chips. My Pura 70 ultra runs hotter than the ROG 7.

Zuzuz, 07 Nov 2024The prices are justified. They invest heavily in these chip... moreYep, people are happy to have a 5G Kirin chipset even if it's not the fastest out there. All they care is that Huawei made it and it integrates well with the rest of the phone.

yalim, 06 Nov 2024selling a crippled midrange phone more expensive than a pro... moreUsing the word 'crippled' is easy for you to say. Just in case you are not aware, if US didnt put so much sanction and pressure other countries to suppress this single company, things would've been different. One thing is clear: in such case Huawei wont grow independent. But thanks to US sanctions, Huawei will grow stronger and resilient. In fact, it is already been doing that. History will repeat itself, the day when SMIC take over TSMC's business is closer than ever. You dont underestimate a country who can build more skyscrapers in 40 years than US in 120 years, a country who had 0 high speed rail track in 2004 and now has the longest high speed rail network in the world, beating the rest of the world combined by tens of thousands of kilometer, a country who got exempted to work with NASA but only ended up to be the only country in the world who has a private Space Station (not international).

doesn't matter if the get most out of it. these kirin soc should be compare to same node 6 or 7 nm soc's from sd/mtk for performance not in benchmark apps.

Anonymous, 06 Nov 2024I really want to see how western citizens would have acted ... moreHere's a fun fact. Did you know that a long time ago "Made in Japan" was considered junk. Now it's respected. The same will happen with China. "Made in Africa" will one day likely be the "new" Made in China, because prices will rise and there's always going to be demand for lower costs.

Anonymous, 06 Nov 2024I really want to see how western citizens would have acted ... moreThe answer is simple. Let the market decide. Let both manufacturers sell their products and the consumers will choose. We can then analyse their market share.
Everybody can decide for themselves.

WickedS, 06 Nov 2024Same old machines using for multi pattern. Less yields . Ev... more"There are no free nodes" 😁 That could be a Tshirt.
We could only hope that there's been node development. If it hadn't moved at all they'd still be on 7nm now, wouldn't they?
I remember reading that the Huawei Nova series is going Kirin now. So they must be making more chips.
If Huawei gets their s**t together then us consumers can enjoy all the beautiful benefits that come from that.
