DeepIn2U, 18 Nov 2024Yet your machune doesntsupoirtthe speedsof that storagesoit... moreWhen I have access to a 512 core server with around 4TB of ram why do i need to do productivity work on this laptop?
Plus the point wasn't it performance which BTW every mac would have been f-ed up way harder than that PC because of the lackluster initial hardware.
The point was devices that can easily re-purposed and re-used should not become e-waste in short time. Those mac become e-waste pretty fast!

DeepIn2U, 12 Nov 2024While i agree 99% with this statement with Apple's pro... moreI have a HP laptop from 2010(at this age and day it is almost 15 years old) what i have done is changed the thermal paste which is almost impossible in this mac mini and changed storage to Samsung 850 evo SSD and that thing is running win 11(i had years of Linux and win 7 up to 11 on it).
it is still going strong and i recon it would at least go another 4 or 5 years.
so 2 years have you even seen a apple product that could last this much and be practical to use?

Fabiana, 12 Nov 2024Even if it’s proprietary there will be third-party compatib... moreSeriously, apple do that to keep control and make money. Sometimes solving design issues at best.
The underlying components are standard stuff, there's no special memory dram apple or NAND apple gates, just using barebkne right of the bat TSMC Samsung xylinx stuff in the end...
I'd like to lough there. Apple brainwashing people with their expensive walled garden....

Apple and proprietary are linked together. Remember appletalk... Not new.
It's in purpose. It's good hardware reliable long lasting sh't, but it's also expensive walled garden for pretending 'superior' people. Choose your pill...

Even for a device that's not intended to be taken apart, it's incredibly dangerous for the power supply board to have those exposed components. Watch the Linus Tech Tips/Louis Rossmann iMac repair video if you need further explanation.

Even if it’s proprietary there will be third-party compatible parts at some point. Barely different than any other Apple replaceable SSD over the last decade.
Apple makes it hard because they don’t want inexperienced people messing with the insides. Heck it’s pretty normal for wannabe PC experts to buy video cards larger than the case, incompatible RAM, applying thermal grease like peanut butter, killing components because of no grounding, SATA SSD, turning on without a heatsink, the list goes on…

Anonymous, 12 Nov 2024Windows notebooks and tabs many years ago were heavily ridi... moreI don't know if there are reports on this, but it's most likely that the Mac mini market share is quite low, so it's unlikely that Apple is getting a pass.

if the board is on top-inside (upside-down) then why they put power button at bottom-up.
they also change the placement from right-to-left.
a mac mini pro design as mac pro (can or cheese) would be better in m4 mini form.

xPandamon, 12 Nov 2024Even though it has 256 GB, that is still laughable.Windows notebooks and tabs many years ago were heavily ridiculed for having only 256gb storage.
How does Apple continue getting a pass for this kind of moves?
