The report doesn't name the company, but apparently its execs are unhappy with the 13.6% growth of the market this year.

rizki1, 12 Nov 2024Serious? many of them have started making Fodable this year... moreChinese manufacturer forget that main reason people buy chinese brand because it is cheap.

This is just a moment of reality check.

Sadly, 99% of chinese phone user can only support chinese foldables by writing comment without actually buying the phone.

Majority of foldable user buy foldable phone not because they really need foldables, they actually buy it because it is a premium device with a samsung brand.

Regular people won't spend money for a device that less durable and cost twice as much as candy bar-type phone. So, any foldable device must have popular brand image to justify the expensive price.

Foldable phones are not needed especially at costs as premium as they're marketed at.
      Waste of money.
The new tech is not as advanced as they're claiming it to be.
About time these companies where they stand .

not a huge loss imo unless it's vivo

Serious? many of them have started making Fodable this year Xiaomi Flip, Infinix Flip... Tecno Flip just released the 2nd generation last month.. and in a few months Oppo and OnePlus will release Find N5.. even Oppo Vivo also sells this expensive foldable to my country.

Anonymous, 12 Nov 2024I mean, Tecno does sound like the "suspect" here.... moreYou must be unaware about Transsion's grandiose plans to do to smartphones what China/BYD are doing to EVs.
Just don't scratch your head once they we reach peak race to the bottom. Where features, that would've been exclusive to wealthy users, will be seen on cheaper products.

I mean, Tecno does sound like the "suspect" here. It's the typical Chinese spam "brand" selling devices made from scrap parts. It wouldn't be the first time that brand cancels its foldables.

Here's hoping even more manufactures follow suit. I never liked this gimmick of folding screens. Seemed like a cheap trick meant to make devices break down faster by introducing more possible points of failure. I also abhor it for killing the 8 inch tablet market.

We already know that this report is false. There's no point in repeating a rumour you already published when it's already been proven to be untrue.
