In the car example, pressing virtual buttons, can be done while keeping the eyes on the road.

And especially if you can have a tactile feeling of pressing, e.g. if it is lifted by air or liquid. Or if fixed positions, a click mat like simple calculators or some remote controls use.

"Wouldn’t it be cool to have an on-screen QWERTY keyboard with actual buttons?"

It would be awsome! Especially combined with folding to protect it. We could then finally say goodbye to the very few available phones with a real keyboard, that can be operated without constantly looking at the display!

        scratch resistant?

Its all really cool... but in that demo video, what is the point of extending some knob or button from touch screen if its still a touch screen?

Anonymous, 13 Nov 2024100ppi is too low, it should've been at least 300ppi.It's one of the first, remember e-ink at the start?
I think this could have a very good application everywhere :)

i can see a foldable that folds both side 360°. Also, what if we can make curtains out of it, digital ones or maybe digital umbrella.

Car dashboard does make a lot of sense. Can't see this being used for smartphones.

I don't think this will have much real world uses. Looks good, sure, but apart from that idk what use it might have. Probably good to make a coat that can be stretched to a trench coat in winters

Damn. Sci-fi is becoming a reality. Truly amazing.

everything is a screen now... even the PS6 controller might become a screen too...
