So TSMC can get government grants, but Chinese car manufactures are in a wrong to get government grants. Am I missing something?

Hopefully they start producing chips soon enough.. I hope these tariffs stay in the us and don't make the companies making them mark the price up in other countries where the tariffs don't apply..

Oh just bringing tmsc to usa soil under the chips and Science Act.
Another prime example of the current administration doing "nothing" for the past four years.

as long as this does not jack up the prices of budget smartphones it's an okayish move by tsmc

Funny how the self‐portrayed biggest free market in the world is also the most avid practitioner of protectionism when things dont go its way.

EU should impose 100% taxes on TSMC because it receives multi-billion dollar subsidies from US and German government to build local factories. Ah sorry, tjese are the good guys. China is the bad guy because it subsidises its car indusry.

Why build a chip plant (which needs water) in a desert? Put it near the Great Lakes

These are largely reliant on chips manufactured by TSMC and heavy tariffs on those products would be illogical as they would increase costs dramatically for Chinese Smartphone and tablet manufacturers

Chip Made in America only to get exported to China or Asia again for assembly. Unless they're also making in America, that's kinda a lot of energy waste
