Apple iPhone 17 Air tipped to measure just 6 mm thick

19 November 2024
It might be even slimmer than the iPhone 6.

Sort by:

To be honest iPhone 6 plus was quite impressive with it's thin large screen profile. The only problem was it was made out of of soft aluminium and was as rigid as play dough.

Thinner but with very big screen , probably smaller battery, very powerful but hungry proc at full power and expensive with a big pill island. I don't understand it's usefulness for now. Bragging, maybe ? Apart some new alien tech battery, I don't see the point.

Still feels heavy. I'm currently using a Pixel 4a, which weighs 143g, and this 200g phone still feels noticeably heavier.

But nobody cares about this.......? 8mm or 5mm......or 7mm........ We all just want battery life, pro motion display, great camera, Ram, GPU, CPU......etc........ I think Tim Cook realizes Apple misses Jony Iver and his radical interesting designs.......so he's trying too hard, now.....(Tim Cook)

Personally, I don't like devices that are too thin. What's more, given that it's expected to have Plus-like specs at a price above the Pro Max, it's out of the question for me.

And it will probably be the same for many if this proves true.

                                    Anonymous, 19 Nov 2024Samsung are already planning a S25 Slim model 😅LOL

I just dont understand the point to make phone thinner. It's the number i never look on the phone size. As i care only the 2 numbers and mainly only 1 number that is how tall the phone is as the how wide the phone is dont much matter for me. Pocket friendly is how to fit the phone in the pocket so the how wide or how thin it is dont matter as these sizes are not so big for the phone to stick out of the pocket or make it uncomfortable to bend

I rather have the phone thicker so it will have larger battery in it. Something like 130mm tall and 60mm wide be perfect and there for the phone can be like 10mm thick to have that 4000-6000mAh battery in it

I dont see this as design too. It has nothing practical to it being more thin

Let’s see if consumers bite. Considering the Pro Max continues to be the best seller, I doubt the Air would sell much. People don’t seem to mind the heft and bulk, as long as it’s the highest end iPhone. Making something thinner with obvious less feature (just single camera) imo is not a good idea.

Unless of course the 17 Air is just a pre cursor for the regular iPhone design moving forward, meaning the 18 Air will get ultra wide, then the 19 “Air” would simply replace the regular iPhone. Just like MacBooks, Air and Pro.
