19 November 2024
The phone is expected to be announced in China in two days.

Many people are saying many things about the cameras.
I don't think 2x lenses are needed since 2x crops are usable nowadays.
17 or 18 mm x2=34 or 35. Yeah I agree with you that bigger sensor would have been better. But I'm not talking about it. Also the article doesn't say anything about it. Maybe the pictures. So 13mm is a welcome I guess.
Also it doesn't says telephoto lenses focal length. Some comments suggest 70mm=35x2. 😒
.....
Also in the photo, the lenses do look small. We'll see in 2 days how the phone actually is.

Anonymous, 5 hours ago23mm crops out of that tiny 13mm lens would look horrible. ... moreYeah, basically it looks like being the generation of increased battery sizes but no improvement in camera hardware. Maybe there will be some software improvements but as you say, so far basically all the new flagships have either maintained the same level cameras as last year or even slightly downgraded them. The Vivo x200 pro is the best of the new launches in terms of camera hardware, but even that is more of a sidestep rather than improvement compared to the x100 pro.

Anonymous, 5 hours ago23mm crops out of that tiny 13mm lens would look horrible. ... moretiny? where'd you get the info for the size?

and it wouldn't look perfect, i agree, but it should still do the job acceptably well.

Anonymous, 4 hours agoA true camera flagship with the worst selfie ever. Nobody needs to see every little imperfection in the skin on your face. Selfie cameras should be discontinued entirely imo

Darth Caesium, 1 hour agoThe LYT-808 is not that much more expensive than the LYT-70... moreYeah, I agree they should have kept the OV50E ultrawide from last year. Don't really think the variable aperture was required.

Aierlan, 2 hours agoThat's closer to the Vivo x200 ultra territory. Appare... moreThe LYT-808 is not that much more expensive than the LYT-701 (renamed IMX890), which the Z60 Ultra used. While you could reuse the LYT-701 on the ultrawide, the Z70 Ultra's downgraded ultrawide is really unacceptable. What the X200 Ultra is rumoured to do isn't comparable to this setup, not when the LYT-818 is noticeably more expensive than the LYT-808, and that one's 85mm telephoto uses an HP9, which is much more expensive than an OV64B, and also requires in turn much more expensive optics due to the massive size difference. What I asked isn't unreasonable (maybe besides the ultrawide, but come on, at least keep the LYT-701) for the price this thing gets sold for.

Darth Caesium, 2 hours agoWhat the Z70 Ultra should've been: •Rear cameras: ... moreThat's closer to the Vivo x200 ultra territory. Apparently that's coming with a 35mm-Lyt-818 main sensor, an Lyt-818 ultrawide and a HP9 periscope (not sure of the focal length). The Nubia z70 ultra needs to control the cost as it's more of an entry level flagship in terms of pricing with similar pricing to base flagship models like the Xiaomi 15 and Vivo x200

Anonymous, 4 hours agoA true camera flagship with the worst selfie ever. Me, who doesn't use the selfie camera at all:

Anonymous, 4 hours agoA true camera flagship with the worst selfie ever. I wouldn't judge Nubia's new UDC camera now as from what I've watched, its improved so much. Watch C4ETech's review of RedMagic 10Pro in Youtube and you'll see it has gotten way, way better as in its now looks like a real selfie photo.

does it come with 7000mAh battery?

What the Z70 Ultra should've been:

                          •Rear cameras:
                          ✓Sony LYT-808 — 50MP, variable f/1.6-f/4.0 (10-step), 35mm (standard), 1/1.43"-type, 1.12µm, DPAF, OIS
                          ✓Sony LYT-808 — 50MP, f/1.8, 100° FoV, 17.5mm (ultrawide), 1/1.43"-type, 1.12µm, DPAF (2.5cm-∞) , OIS
                          ✓OmniVision OV64B — 64MP, f/2.8, 85mm (periscope telephoto), 1/2.0"-type, 0.7µm, DPAF (10cm-∞), OIS, 2.4× optical zoom

                          •Selfie camera:
                          ✓Samsung ISOCELL JN5 — 50MP, f/1.8, 35mm (standard), 1/2.74"-type, 0.64µm, QPAF, under-display

Main cameras are getting wider and wider. I hope someday Apple and Samsung make phone 35mm camera. Or at least 28mm. 24mm is too wide for my usage. 35mm main 18mm uw and 50-75mm tele would be perfect, so i don't need to carry my camera around.

user6940643, 4 hours agoAccording to the Chinese fans over on Weibo(their Twitter),... moreLast year's ultrawide was the best available on any phone available and 18mm was ideal I think given the 35mm main camera. It used the same camera sensor last year as the main camera on the Xiaomi 14 Civi (Civi 14 pro). Was brilliant for Video too. Bit of a pity about this new ultrawide. Last year's was great.

The global version, like the Chinese version, should be able to use all of its own applications and features.
Not only is the global version slow to update, but the volume cannot be adjusted for each application and the gallery is not available.

I've zoomed in with my UW cams in the past and they produce really nice photos in good light in terms of tightness/compression, not unacceptable at least. The distortion isn't going to be a big problem, the main problem would be demosaicing and noise control.
