What the Z70 Ultra should've been:

•Rear cameras:
✓Sony LYT-808 — 50MP, variable f/1.6-f/4.0 (10-step), 35mm (standard), 1/1.43"-type, 1.12µm, DPAF, OIS
✓Sony LYT-808 — 50MP, f/1.8, 100° FoV, 17.5mm (ultrawide), 1/1.43"-type, 1.12µm, DPAF (2.5cm-∞) , OIS
✓OmniVision OV64B — 64MP, f/2.8, 85mm (periscope telephoto), 1/2.0"-type, 0.7µm, DPAF (10cm-∞), OIS, 2.4× optical zoom

•Selfie camera:
✓Samsung ISOCELL JN5 — 50MP, f/1.8, 35mm (standard), 1/2.74"-type, 0.64µm, QPAF, under-display

Main cameras are getting wider and wider. I hope someday Apple and Samsung make phone 35mm camera. Or at least 28mm. 24mm is too wide for my usage. 35mm main 18mm uw and 50-75mm tele would be perfect, so i don't need to carry my camera around.

user6940643, 19 Nov 2024According to the Chinese fans over on Weibo(their Twitter),... moreLast year's ultrawide was the best available on any phone available and 18mm was ideal I think given the 35mm main camera. It used the same camera sensor last year as the main camera on the Xiaomi 14 Civi (Civi 14 pro). Was brilliant for Video too. Bit of a pity about this new ultrawide. Last year's was great.

Doesn't matter what bells and whistles ZTE ads to their phones...as long as they have the same horrible customer service and atrocious update and device support...they will be at the bottom of my list...

The global version, like the Chinese version, should be able to use all of its own applications and features.
Not only is the global version slow to update, but the volume cannot be adjusted for each application and the gallery is not available.

I've zoomed in with my UW cams in the past and they produce really nice photos in good light in terms of tightness/compression, not unacceptable at least. The distortion isn't going to be a big problem, the main problem would be demosaicing and noise control.

A true camera flagship with the worst selfie ever.

According to the Chinese fans over on Weibo(their Twitter), where the official nubia account is posting there, the speculated sensor specs seems to be:

Main: Sony IMX906 (unchanged from last year's Z60 Ultra, but with Variable Aperture)
Telephoto: Omnivision OV64B (again, unchanged from last year)
Ultrawide: Omnivision OV40D (downgraded from last year, extremely small sensor size compared to last year's (2.88" to 1.55")

Well, these are most likely the official specs, my main concern here is the Ultrawide camera as it serves as an important 24mm shooter for specific occasions (since the main camera is 35mm, as always in nubia smartphones). If these speculated specs are true, I hope that they will be able to optimize the ultrawide camera to be flagship level, or even better than last year's model but we gotta wait for the reviews to drop. If that's not the case, I guess it's one more year of waiting for me :/

Pity about the ultrawide but glad to see they've improved the aperture on the periscope. Probably still the OV64b which is a solid sensor

                          ZTE take my money

That's a straight up downgrade compared to the previous big 1/1.56 18mm lens.

Almost every chinese companies downgraded their cameras to compensate the more expensive SOC this year and ZTE is no exception.

On the side note I saw a leak somewhere else suggesting a 70mm telephoto. Which is also a downgrade compared to the previous 85mm lens.

13 mm UW? WOAH! that's insane! idk if it's good or bad yet but i'd be super interested in seeing cropped shots. a 2x crop of the 13 mm cam should lead to a normal-ish 26 mm shot.

Shaping up to be a banger, this one. As long as the price is the same as before they've got a winner.

                                  So which sensors?
