Asus doesn't understand that people won't spend that much on a gaming phone
Also, specs alone can't sell a phone. Asus lacks the after sales support, servicing and spares network, updates policy and the software itself isn't as polished as samsung or apple
Moreover, they increase the prices every year. On top of that, the design looks ugly and generic since the 8 model
Sorry Asus, too many red flags there. I can't even spend $700 on this, let alone a thousand or more. It's just not worth

Im curious if the hdr playback thing gsmarena was talking about is a local file playback problem or something, idk what gsmarena was talking about. It works on youtube and it has Widevine L1 certification.
Perhaps they're talking about the lack of dolby vision and hdr10+? I don't really care about those, dolby vision tuning is hit or miss and hdr10+ content is scarce.

Locked down bootloader with only 2 years of software updates, sure, android updates aren't that important but locking the bootloader when your lazy arse can't even bother to support the device longer is a no go.

Asus has lost its way. ROGs were very competitively priced in the Phone 3 and even Phone 5 eras. Exorbitant price and a piss poor software support are the only downsides. And this is coming form an ROG fanboy.

No, nor would I buy a pair for my parents or other family members.
This seems to be more appealing to a teenager or some young adults who love gaming.

Hell no! I've learned my lesson. Never buy Assus, always buy Xiaomi and never regret anything! Never look back!

Of course...not. I don't want gaming phones, spending hours forcing your eyes looking at a "tiny" 6.8" screen for hours, and having to use glasses for all your life because you damaged your eyes.
Gaming is to be done at home, in my proper 32" 144Hz screen. When i'm on the go outside or at work, there's no time to game also.

I do not believe gaming on a phone is important enough to justify this product. I'd rather get the S25+ when i comes out. I mean, it can still play the same games at the same graphics and maybe miss 10fps or so. Is that really a big enough deal to lose on the camera?
If you want to game, get yourself a proper rig or a laptop. For that price, something with an RTX4060 should do fine. I was gifted a Lenovo LOQ with 4060 last year and I never felt any desire to game on my phone since.
