I'd wait for the second gen chip and wouldn't go lower than 10 cores.

VicsanIdiot, 24 Nov 2024i may be an idiot, but you do know that right now, both LL ... moreI outright specified they beat anything in the targeted price range, $600. Lunar Lake and Zen 5 do not exist here, only older gens - this is in my first comment.

"neither Intel nor AMD can offer the battery life Qualcomm has in this low of a price range"

I also haven't seen any test where Zen 5 is better than Qualcomm at battery life. Lunar Lake beats it at less demanding tasks, while Zen 5 is about on par at performance/watt when both are set to similar power limits, but loses at low power applications.

The only instances I've seen where Zen 5 beat Qualcomm laptops at battery life was running Cinebench loops, but that's only because that particular Zen 5 laptop power limited itself on battery and thus lost performance. If you set all 3 CPU's to say 20W limit, they will obviously have roughly the same battery life, with Qualcomm and Zen 5 having similar performance with Intel a little behind.

600 dollars affordable, inflation hits hard

For $600 I can get 8845HS, which is better than X elite

in my honest opinion, the only arm laptop that actually puts up a fight with x86-64 are the ones with apple silicon.

My next PC will definetly be something repairable, not garbage with soldered everything, especially not garbage with soldered CPU....

potato4k, 24 Nov 2024Keep em coming. The more Snapdragon laptops available, the ... moreTbh I won't really set the bar too low, but for me the lowest Snapdragon (or any upcoming ARM laptop chipset manufacturer) should've the performance that at least comparable with Intel N100 (as a comparison, if you don't know how's the performance of N100, it's literally in par with the fastest Dual Core Kaby Lake chipset).

                                Microsoft Surface Go?

Much better. I really don't care too much about performance, just the efficiency is enough.

Targeting $600 laptop, if Chinese made this they could even put it at $300.. if it's a brand that likes to overprice they'll put it at $1000.

Keep em coming. The more Snapdragon laptops available, the more incentive for app developers to compile natively for ARM. Right now, Windows ARM biggest problem is legacy x86 apps, for good reason. The large majority is still on x86. Worse, OEMs are positioning Snapdragon laptops as ultra premium, so adoption is slow. We need the equivalent of Helio G99/SD695 for Windows laptops, where it's widespread and targeting low to mid range. Until then, developers has no incentive to compile for ARM.
