Anonymuss, 03 Dec 2024Let's see!
1. Because SD cards are available in sizes... moreThe cards are not the bottleneck, the phone (for some reason) cannot read/write at more than 30-45MB/sec depending on write or read. I have MicroSDXC cards that can be read at 170MB/sec.
For media storage it will generally be just fine. Really high bitrate video might be a problem, nothing I use though.
Right now I have no real need for Offline playlists and Tidal offline playlists are really really slow to load (to be displayed), regardless of being stored internally or external SD card.

Nothing haven't launched 3 new phones, just two the Nothing 2a and CM1 the 2a plus and Community addition were just riding on the back of the 2a with nothing worth any investment on. Let's hope for real upgrades with the Nothing 3a launch

The only important thing is that there's still phones out there with the features you're looking for, and I've listed a couple of them here. Just go ahead and buy any one of them instead.

1. Because SD cards are available in sizes upto 1.5TB.
2. Because they are swappable.
3. Because they can help expand your phone's storage if you have run out of space.
3. Because they are cheaper.
4. Because they are perfectly okay for storing media (pictures/video/audio).
6. Because they make data transfer to new phones easy as 1-2-3.
And what do you mean 30-40MBps? Even the lower grade A1 SD cards can easily do 100MBps.

dexton, 02 Dec 2024My new Sony Xperia 1 VI has a 3.5mm headphone jack. But my ... moreSony is infamous for providing less power. Look at their DAPs. The LG V series phones were the pinnacle of smartphone audio because of their superior DACs. No other phone will compare to them, especially today when essentially only 1 or 2 phones sport the jack.
LDAC is the best high-bitrate bluetooth codec currently, and that too works on best-effort basis, and constantly downgrades the bitrate as per connection strength. Only good for upto CD quality even if you can alter this setting. Regarding the future of bluetooth, I am not so sure: there is only so much data that bluetooth can handle at a time. My point is, even with all the compromises, a good set will cost a lot more than standard wired technology.

justasmile, 03 Dec 2024Each have their own advantages. Bluetooth for no tangling, ... moreIt is all about giving options. I cannot be happy with tangle-free if I require audio quality. I also cannot be content with USB's bad design when compared to the jack. When I say I want 3.5mm jack, I never ask for it at the expense of bluetooth or USB-C. But if they take away the thing I want, I will complain. They can easily fit it in all phones because they literally used to do so, and nobody is losing anything.....except the brands who can't justify selling earbuds at 10 times the cost for wired IEMs with same audio quality. Plus they have tiny batteries which render them useless every 2 years as well.
And that's a very bad mentality you have there about not complaining. If nobody ever complained, this world would have descended to utter chaos and tyranny long ago. Always complain for the things you care for.

Anonymuss, 02 Dec 2024The 3.5mm jack can never die. NEVER. Bluetooth and USB-C wi... moreMy new Sony Xperia 1 VI has a 3.5mm headphone jack. But my LG V30 still has much better sound from its 3.5mm headphone jack. Besides the Xperia doesn't have juice to power really good headphones, barely handles my Bowers and Wilkins P7 which are easy to drive.
So when going on a trip I will still need to bring my LG V30 to get the best sound quality and power for wired headphones.
I wouldn't really mind if Sony lost the headphone jack but I could see some "content creators" wanting a headphone jack since wireless headsets are not as hassle free as simple wired ones.
But for the best sound quality, no. There are no phones with 3.5mm jack now that has a high quality DAC with high power output. Only old phones like my LG V30.
Also there are high-bitrate codecs for bluetooth now, new headphones will be able to transfer at 24bit/96kHz and have tailor made amplifiers built in. Will sound as good as any (portable) wired headphones. Only dedicated heavy headphone amps with heavy headphones will beat high-res wireless soon.

Anonymuss, 30 Nov 2024Question is, will any of them have the 3.5mm jack or the SD... moreAudio jack and SD cards have been reduced to "budget" features, only. I believe the thought process behind this whole thing is that if you're buying the flagship, you can probably either afford to get the upgraded storage model or afford cloud storage down the road, and you're probably going to also buy a nice pair of wireless earbuds for that device. In the end, the company makes more money
For the budget devices, people are looking to pay as little as they can, so they aren't likely to pay more for the higher storage option, but eventually they will want more storage or earbuds, so companies (like samsung) include the features in hopes that the consumer will buy those accessories from them
