Apple Mac mini 2024 (M4) review

01 December 2024
It has always been the most accessible computer the company has offered and the bare bones nature was designed primarily to make people using Windows PCs switch over.

The 16GB/256GB base model is amazing in terms of price to performance and footprint. You just cannot get a similar performance PC, at the same price, with the same footprint. And if you need more storage, external SSD's are relatively cheap nowadays.

However, any other spec is a horrible deal, unfortunately. The price bumps with each upgrade are ridiculous.

[deleted post]No, the other guy got it right. I can see your entire comment history and it's just smack talking under every Apple post. You're not really fooling anyone with the "I'm the only stickler for truth around here" shtick.

AnonF-1006353, 13 hours agoCinebench R23 single core: Intel Core Ultra 5 245KF: 238... moreWith data from notebookcheck and techpowerup and such:

      Cinebench 2024 Single core:
      M4 - 172
      285K - ~150
      9950X - ~140

      Cinebench R23 Multi core:
      M4 - 13868
      7600X - ~15300 avg
Approx. 10% difference, nothing to write home about.

      GB6.3:
      M4 - 3828
      285K - ~3300
      9950X - ~3400

Everything adds up. Apple still blows the competition out of the water in that specific regard.

Imaging thinking AMD's TDP figures stand for the actual power consumption and that the HX 370 can produce a score anywhere close to that at 28W. Not only does the 370 have more cores than the M4, it can still only reach around 16k in Cinebench R23 multi-core when limited to 35W of actual power.

And yeah, a roughly 14k score and a roughly 15k score are close to matching for Cinebench, which has no score to score consistency and numbers can go up and down a few hundred points in run to run variance.
