Sony 'Honami' sample image confirms 20.7MP camera

I so hope to be proven wrong but here's my forecast. After reading through an article about the latest series of "lens cameras" Sony is currently working on, I think, Honami may just turn out to be an improvement over the previous gen of Xperia cams (hopefully it will have some muscle to show) and nothing more. Why I think so... Well because,
1- Lens camera is a newer concept that will try to solve the issue of quality and creative photography by presenting itself as a pocketable add on to the smart phones. So your phone becomes a body which is otherwise itself capable of taking photos in situations where you don't really need such a lens etc. And you can sort of add lenses (bearing much larger sensor an optical image stabilizer and a good amount of optical zoom) to your phone like DSLRs for situations where smartphones just fall short badly.
2- If you are familiar with the RX 1 or the RX 100 cams from Sony then you'll know what I mean when I say that one can expect some Real serious quality to be coming from these lens cams.
3- Now here's the real catch. Sony will make these add ons available for many other phones also and not just Xperias. This means that by doing so Sony will be able to penetrate even deeper into the smart phone cam market. Since Sony is the only company that has been able to most effectively fit huge sensors into very small digi cam bodies, Sony may be able to monopolize and make a huge deal of it.
So the point is that Sony may just not be as interested to invest too much into a phone camera that will enter into a much hostile environment and make a slow volume of sale. Rather they seem to be looking to target the whole smart cam market by giving the smart phone users a freedom through an add-on. If this succeeds then Sony might find a quick huge market and earn great profits.
So there you have it. But I do want the Honami to be gr8 and I do not at all expect it to be a 1020 killer.

Sony ROCKS? you mean SUCKS! AGAIN the same trick with the camera, yea EXMOR RS, but the same Chroma Subsampling 2x2, and compression that cant be removed by any 3rd app, or modding, because all is in those buggy libs from sony...
This comes from Xperia X10, and remains the same, bullshit with my Xperia Z, if sony stills that way
will suck hard...

The day your phone falls in a pool and dies, you'll wish you had waterproofing :P
Also, you say they need to focus hard on specs... well it has the best and latest specs. Removable back? And end up with an ugly design? No thank you. Removable battery isn't a basic need, nobody but geeks complain about that, and the batter is very large. And many, many of us prefer the dynamic, consistent, no nonsense on-screen buttons to the mess that is Samsung and HTC buttons today.

Try to download the full size image again. The little imperfections in the metal on the handlebar clamp, and so on, these are very good details.
Then again, maybe you only see what you want to see.
Im not saying this will beat the 1020, but this is an allweather real smartphone with the OS people want, not a plastic brick with a tiny battery and low res amoled cartoon display that has super slow animations to hide its low performance and make an illusion of smoothness thats just annoyingly slow. That makes all the difference.

When Sony Xperia i1 (honami) release this coming september/october, I'm going to wait Apple iphone 5S, before i buy which is the best screen display resolution. TRILUMINOS(SONY) vs IGZO(iphone 5S).

i like the sound of this phone and if the rumours are true i think it will be a tough decision between the sony honami and the lg g2 !

The lack of details in the picture is something i didn't expect and cropping it, would only result in a pixelated image. It's still a prototype, i remember but it's going to have a 1/2.3" sensor size which is by today's standards not an achievement and certainly not an innovation. I don't think there would be some highly configurable settings in the camera however i can't confirm that. Sony makes damn good cameras but as a matter of fact, the bigger the sensor, the better the picture quality, Sony Honami will have a 1/2.3" sensor size and no Xenon flash due to which it is going to suck. It's for damn sure that Sony Honami really can't beat Nokia Lumia 1020 or even the Nokia 808 PureView.
Call me a fanboy, it really doesn't matter but it seems as if you can't digest the truth.

You are not criticising the latest processor etc etc and the specs which is higher than any other existing device other than than the yet unreleased LG G2! i want more pictures of the device itself! there have been some time since the last leaked pictures, come on sony workers, give us pictures of the final honami version, i'm sure it's final since the announce is at 4th of next month!

Otherwise its good in detail and low in noise. Looks like it has an OIS. Very promising, will beat the crap out of LG G2 camera.
Looking forward to see some long distance photos, where the whole motive will be in focus and we can really start looking at level of detail. I can feel some good crops coming out of this.

Just look at the picture taken with Sony Honami... Is it something to wow at? No. This picture if really taken with Sony Honami simply indicates that the picture quality of this device will definitely suck bad. Thumbs down. Sony sucks!

2. If you honestly believe that the S4 doesn't have a boring design then all I can say is Wow. It looks like the S3 all they made was a few new touches to the S4 such as silver chrome around the phone & other unimportant changes.
As soon as the S3 was released all of Samsungs later phones looked like the S3, they were bigger and some were smaller, just a copycat of the S3 & still the design for there new phones is still the same. Except for those new tiny changes they did to the S4. You obviously are serious fanboy if you are not tired of this more than 2 year slap & copy.
3. The HTC One camera is garbage. There have been numerous reviews on this & HTC past shows this on there cameras. No further proof on this is required. You just can't accept the fact cause your serious HTC fan, I understand but we're just telling the facts. We don't need to try it out that's the point of reviews.
