Anonymous, 09 Dec 2024Ask mom Sony why it is not possible to install alternative ... moreThe thing is, you said, "you install it on any hardware." This is incorrect. In actuality, you can't do that. For example, you cannot install SteamOS on an Android tablet. In theory, you can also install the Nintendo Switch OS, for example, on any capable hardware. That's irrelevant.

    BigPicture, that's the secret.

    The 'idea of "BoxConsole" is also suitable for home SmartTVs, PCs, MiniPCs, MicroPCs and any compatible hardware.

    The 'idea of a BigPicture is the idea of playing with Lego bricks, at home, in your room, when you were in the age of 'childhood.

    And in 'childhood age, you didn't need accounts and perennial connections with half the world, to play with lego bricks.

      Anonymous, 09 Dec 2024Ask mom Sony why it is not possible to install alternative ... moreI forgot:

      - Steam Client fully accessible with the 'latest Box64 (0.3.2)

      - "Rumors" stating Valve's desire for a SteamBox Console. (aka Hardware + SteamOS)

      - The 'growing interest of third party companies in this NEW marketing approach.

      - The 'growing interest of the Community.

      Sony is already a 65-million-year-old dinosaur.

        Ask mom Sony why they don't at least release basic documentation for simple drivers.

        Ask mom Sony why with every update, it blocks and bans the ability to install even one simple emulator from the OpenSource community.

        Ask mom Sony why a simple peripheral like its CDplayer costs almost as much as a Switch.

        Ask mom Sony why you have to be forced to have a perpetual connection and account to play games.

        Ask yourself if it's not time to stop with Sony and its arrogant politics.

        Meanwhile, some random guy took a Switch (for example) and installed Windows on it, some random guy make e Winlator,

        Yes, theoretically anything is possible, even reverse enginering a hardware (since the one from mom Sony, is a 64Bit AMD)

        Same for an M series Apple.

        And there is a reason why a Winlator, can be created for an Android OS.

        But LOLs like you like this world, a nice 'hell to live in right?

        Only it is not my hell, it is yours.

              Required hardware specifications are at least 4GB Ram System, 64Bit instruction and Nvidia-AMD-Intel gpu.

              Porting can also be done with compatibility layers and theoretically for all hardware platforms that meet the minimum requirements.

                Here's a valuable maxim for you;

                - if you are incapable of looking beyond a reflection, don't blame the mirror.

                Steam is essentially a store, a "storefront."

                It is the Philosophy that then leads to a software, an OS (which is a set of software) and an ecosystem (like that of a Steam), that makes the difference.

                But the world is also beautiful because the various LOLs exist.

                      For everyone else, just follow the rules in the GitHub or GitLab section to get a distro and kernel with aventual custom patches.

                      Also, I point out that all AMD APUs (so the -andheld consoles work better and are more efficient under Linux Kernel) work badly (unnecessary occupation and management of system Ram, higher power consumption) with preinstalled Windows OS.

                      So no one would, in theory, forbid a Lenovo to create its own version of SteamOS for its -handheld console.

                      That I remember; and more like a FrontClient (WineHQ+Proton+MESA Drivers+Eventual Kernel patches) like A RetroArch (well-known Front-End For Retrogaming), for example.

                        What I describe is the representation of a system of ethical values and responsibilities in the "economy of scale of the species called humanity."

                        The 'only being capable of using its "creative" capacity to indoctrinate and subjugate its fellow humans through the fictitious invention of an imaginary value, "time," as the result of an 'interaction of movement to which the term refers, "labor."

                        Hence, in fact, comes one of the worst (and silliest) maxims that a mind with the obsessive idea of possession can conceive: "time is money."

                        They just added the symbolism that is known to most as: number.

                        But then, brother, you and I look at the night sky and realize that the very nature of things, the stars and the entire universe, have not and have NEVER needed to invent anything or impose their own "vision" to grow, interact and evolve over the billions of their loto-existence.

                        Nature therefore has an ETHICS in this sense.

                        It is the "human being" who does not make sense of things.

                        It does so because it is essentially greedy and must justify this greed in some way.

                        What better prison then (Sony, Nintendo, Microsft, etc.)?

                        So, what "right" ethics for a third-party developer?

                          In a "LOL" I personally notice only a lack of information, experiential growth and world knowledge;

                          - Aka cognitive misunderstanding of historical events, justified by a silly expression.

                          Valve has its own damn ecosystem like a Sony, a Microsoft, a Nintendo, etc.

                          Valve gleans like a Sony, a Microsoft, a Nintendo, etc.

                          But IT DOES NOT DO IT with the BLOOD of consumers.

                          The SUBSTANTIAL difference, is that the perception that a Valve gives itself to the public (also formed by the "LOLs"), is that of a company that does not pretend to use the justification of a "hardware" or a "software" to market its ideas and does not need to impose or describe to anyone what the term "play" is and how this term: play, SHOULD NOT be tied to ANY hardware and NO software (or imposition of digital services) in order to justify its numbers and financial gain.

                          It is Ethics, a far cry cognitively speaking, from being able to be perceived as "LOL."

                          SteamOS is an example of this as software, you install it on any hardware, modify it as you need, use it as you want. (Like Valve did precisely and with its SteamDeck!)

                          If you have the skills to do so of course.

                          And skills, do not contemplate "LOLs"!

AFAIK, Valve doesn't have SteamOS 3 out for flashing onto another device (yet), not even for the Steam Deck. Also, there's still no guarantee of 100% compatibility.

                            Again, this is only a theory, as I don't have these devices to test it out on. If you wanna try it, go ahead! 👍🏻 Just make sure to back up data first.

                                    Valve, as a company, is THE ONLY company that for a good while in all this TOTAL economic chaos, does NOT rely on "ownership" of hardware and software, BUT;

                                    - On the liking of the people, the gamers.
                                    - The NUMBERS, it does not make them on "units sold", nor on the "IPs" advertised.

                                    It will make the numbers by the ethics of efficiency, support and communication.

                                    Above all;

                                    -It does not deceive, coerce, impose, or blackmail, as other "companies" in the industry do.

                                    Its -numbers come from advertising people, NOT from the marketing of four evasive companies.

                                    Could it be for this reason, that Valve is not "sympathetic" in the eyes of those who see only mental corruption as an excuse for advancement in this world?

                                      It is not a SteamOS i.e., a PURE UNIX-LINUX OS!
                                      SteamDeck, is CONCRETE proof of what the two main terms are;

                                      - Hardware-Software Optimization

                                      - Complete and OpenSource OS.

                                      Which neither a Sony, nor a Nintendo, can boast. (Except for those four titles-gaming/IP that they have been dragging around for years).

                                      Also, again for your information;
                                      - companies like Sony and Nintendo, do not allow you to expand your vision of gaming beyond their fence, their "prison" of rules. (contracts between gangsters).

                                      That is, if you are NOT very but very good at programming and exploits.
                                      Lo and behold, that's what happened with a PS3 (for those who remember the historical lessons), which initially could run a PURE Linux OS in addition to its OWN OS.
                                      So, happy YOU to once again be SLAVES to these "companies" dedicated to looting YOUR pockets and the cognitive and practical blackmail that follows.

                                      ALL just for their corporate gain. (1000 bags of a "pro" PS5, for example).
                                      And companies, they are made up of people.
                                      Who those "people" are and how they think, that is another matter to be handled carefully.
