Mini PCs should have 4 USB Type-A ports, so you can connect a USB keyboard, a mouse, and a game controller to it, and there is one USB Type-A port available for other devices that aren't always connect to it.

-Lenovo Thinkcentre/thinkstation support any low profile low power gpu, something like Rtx A2000 is enough for lot of people who enjoy form factor.

-HP mini pc has proprietary connector which support up to Gtx 1660

-these Chinese mini pc can use Oculink or Thunderbolt/usb 4 enclosure

-if you cant afford all of the above you can use M2 port which is pcieX4 to run many gpu, adapter cost few bucks Aliexpress.

Is this thing powerful enough to run Adobe Photoshop smoothly and perhaps AutoCad (2d)?

Mini PCs are no good if one wants dedicated upgradeable graphics with the accompanying power supply. For general use without very intensive applications they are good, but for gaming or design or anything like that, the days of tower PCs are far from over as you write in the introduction.

The dual gigabit LAN port is nice, but WTF with the lone USB-C port? I would rather have less USB-A port on the back, and replace them with USB-C.

Would've been better if they replace 1 HDMI and 1 USB-A ports with 2 USB-C ports.

They support 32GB RAM sticks just fine, Intel just "don't want to know that" so that you buy more expensive one when you need more RAM.

The price is nice, this cute N150 is equivalent to an i5-6500 and consumes much less power.. what a beast.

I see that the advantage of a mini PC is that it can be carried more easily than a big and heavy like laptop.
