Nope, they used TSMC cause their process is far superior than Intel's. And that's it, plain and simple. Intel put itself in this situation, when they were "alone" in the market, they milked the cow as much as they could and didn't do almost anything to improve, they deserve to sink it's they only way they will try to move forward

What matters is when chips are us... moreThey are not, intel used to be leader until 14nm (which was Equivalent of 10nm form others) Tsmc started to be leader for 3 generations 7nm, 5nm and 3nm, intel Had bottleneck with their 10nm for long time but since Pat came they are doing really well in fab. Intel released their Intel 3 which is Almost leading edge, Upcoming 18A which going head to head with N2 can give intel lead of atleast match N2.

TSMC is just bringing Taiwan workers here to increase their profits. Very few American jobs are being created. Everything TSMC promised to do, they lied about. They also got a worker killed due to negligence on their part, and the tiny $16,000 fine is pathetic. That's how little life is worth anymore.

Here comes even higher prices for the same boring phones we had in the last 4 years.
They should forget silicon at this stage and trial with graphene or Carbon nanotubes. It's time!!

They used 1.5mm x 1.5mm chip to test this, which is like 2.25 Sqmm.
For comparison normal die is 50 times larger or more in soc like dimensity 9400 or 8 elite.
So they test real small die to inflate yields figure.
Unless you know what die size they are used by Samsung or intel you can't make any comparison with this.

Samsung barely got 20% yield from their 3nm and here TSMC have already got 60% on their 2nm👏.
