It might be part of the Ace 5 series.

I like how chinese phone companies are now releasing small flagships, but it'll be even better if they do it in it mid range as well, like the edge 50 neo. Imo that segment will attract more buyers

Also they can maybe consider a sub 6-inch phone, because even 6.3 is too big for those who truly want a small phone

    LcdD2, 07 Dec 2024one more "compact" without 3.5mm audio output.get a zenfone then

Make it less than 170 grams with a headphone jack and i'll buy 3 of them just to support this.

Sounds good, I'll buy it to replace my current Android phone. Also the same size as my iPhone 😎
Single camera is enough for me as long as 3.5mm is there.

would be a shame if they didn't go with the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor...

also if they can put that big vibration motor in that thing, it'd be very cool, but it's not necessary.

my fear is this phone won't sell much. maybe a 3.5mm headphone jack will convince some enthusiasts, but I think even that won't be enough. If they can make a all-metal body like the OnePlus Nord 4 and keep the weight below 200g, it should attract some attention in offline stores, but idk. (I do wonder how well the metal finish holds up over time. We need a long-term review of the OnePlus Nord 4).

OnePlus must not compromise on the little things like IR blaster. I'm okay with not having a telephoto camera. I suppose wireless charging won't be possible if they were to go with the all-metal body (and that's fine for me since I don't use wireless charging). I also don't care about IP rating, but some people do. USB video output would be nice-to-have, but not necessary. A quad-curved screen with the energy efficient BOE's Q10 or Samsung's E7 panel would be interesting.

The main deciding factor is the price. One aspect where OnePlus can compromise is the SoC. SD 8 Elite is overkill for a small phone. Nobody will be playing games all day on that small screen. Energy efficiency is more important than pure performance here. I think OnePlus should go with SD 7 series or Dimensity 8000 series chipsets, since those should be performant enough for day-to-day use while also being super energy efficient.

FR4M3, 07 Dec 2024Shouldn't small be 5.7-5.9 inch? Most android phones are 6'7-6'8 so 6'3 is definitely small

Cole9, 07 Dec 2024Sounds like a solid device to replace the Asus zenfoneThe Zenfone is a 5.9 inch phone.. OnePlus will make a 6.3 inch so it's as big as the Xiaomi 15.

a flat 6.3" as big as vanilla S24/iphone 16, 8mm thick, single main camera with flagship sensor.

a crappy wide or crappy tele like on S24/iphone 16 is just waste of space inside the chasis.

just one single flasghip camera sensor is enough.

put a big battery like 6000 mAh. thats would be awesome. thats a solid 2 day battery.
