2024 Winners and losers: OnePlus

28 December 2024
2024 was a strong year for OnePlus – both the main series and the Nord line brought some real winners. However, there were a few embarrassing hiccups.

You mean the big loser for the year and oppo also

Err, I have an Asus Zenfone 5z and it released in 2018 with a Snapdragon 845 and I maintain LineageOS on it and LOS 22.1 (based on Android 15 QPR1) still runs fine on it. An older flagship SoC can still perform good.

Sure, it won't have all the current multi-camera setups and modern Android 3D games won't run as good, but those aren't life or death for the average phone user.

I think it's just OnePlus begging users to keep buying newer devices. I believe the marketing term OnePlus and many manufacturers are aiming for is "Planned obsolescence"

          Where is OnePlus 13?
          It was released in 2024

              Pad 2: Winner
              Buds 2: Loser
              Buds 2 Pro: Winner

honestly I agree with him. most people don't keep their phone for that long. 5 years is actually the sweet spot. also the hardware don't keep up for that long even if it's a flagship SoC.

Can you turn off screen while on YouTube on OnePlus? Xiaomi? My old Redmi still can do it.

Rooting a Oneplus device is a challenge and not everyone can do it.
Rooting a Xiaomi device is fool-proof. Even a caveman could do it.

I therefore declare the clear winner as Xiaomi.
                            Oneplus is obviously looser phone.

For all those who don't know Oneplus I can tell them that Oneplus makes excellent smartphones with very clean software and their smartphones are reliable!! Oneplus was the first to use fast charging and the fluidity of the smartphone is incredible!! Oxygen OS is a must!! Try it you won't go back!!

Phone Critic, 28 Dec 2024OnePlus 12 - 4 OS and 5 SOS OnePlus 13 - 5 OS and 7 SOS ... moreThe thing with that is a lot of people doesn't even keep their phones that long to get those updates. A lot of people trade-in/upgrade their phones every year.

The OnePlus Open 2/OnePlus 13 will be the foldable/phone of the year (2025) imo. Samsung has some big competition from them, and I already heard Samsung is thinking about cutting back on production numbers for the Fold 7.

I keep reading about Oneplus microphone issues, especially for the Oneplus 12R, but I never see it adressed officially. Anyone have any info on that?

I really like the Nord 4's design, especially the 2 tone back that looks like a more modern Pixel 2 XL. It's definitely better than the Nord N30 that we get in America. I just wish Oneplus didn't make all of their phones so huge
