jayu, 15 Aug 2013Nokia 808 already does 4K but time lapse........... though ... morenot true otherwise nokia would have bragged about 4k recording and it would appear in specs, and besides nokia overprices their phones with low hardware(they overcharge for weak hardware) bad os(symbian os wasnt really good and each update to it could break app compatibility and current wp system is really bad) and copycat design(its obvious nokia copies here sony just as much as it used to copy sony ericsson before, lumia phones and n900 etc all look exactly like sony ericsson aino which came out years before)

JK, 15 Aug 2013I don't need 4K video, all I want is 1080p at 60fps video. We don't know this isn't capable of that yet, it's likely that it is, but you can have LG G2.

Every android manufacturer need something to set them apart from each other. Sony thinks that this is what they want. Sony have good camera so maybe they can incorporate there camera tech to there smartphone. The sensor on this phone is the same with most point and shoot camera

Nokia 808 Pureview released more than a year ago already records video in 8k resolution (7728 x 4354) then resizes (oversampling) the video to 1080p, resulting a noiseless and crystal clear 1080p video.

And if I use a software to upscale the video taken with Nokia 808, from 1080p to 4k, I bet it will look much better than the Honami 4k video lol!

                Oh dear!

If it was Apple or Samsung introducing 4K recording the fanboys would be all over this and jizzing in their pants.

It's such a shame they can't give credit where credit is due.

Sad, sad, sad state of affairs.

Actually, even a 4K(8MP) video resolution will push these tiny lenses. And what's the compression rate? How's the battery life, heating etc. And do you have a display that can take advantage of that(nominal) resolution?

i am nt a fanboy what so ever i use htc one, samsung galaxy s3 and lumia 920.
i admire sony's approach to deliver 4k video recording its just gr8 and future proof but the downsides are:-
1-the size of the file "if 1080 video for 1:30 minutes is about 13.5 mb the 4k vid will at least b 30 mb"
2-4k displays r rare and expensive "rarely people buy it at the moment"
3- "1-2 years old laptops cant play 4k videos"
4-the sensor is really small for great 4k output
but i do appreciate the effort if the results are outstanding and internal memorey at least 32gb with micro-sd slot and 3gigs of ram "believe me 4k needs that" yes this phone will be the king of 2013 hands down

@stylinred, nope, they are not videos but a bunch of photos at 8MP resolution bundled together to make a time-lapse video, no phone can record a 4k video at 25-30 fps.
