I would be happy to see some competition but, I expect a premium user experience from a flagship. No mirror apps, no gbox, no lack of nfc-pay, no lack of hdr content etc. Those are value depreciation factors. Until then, they stay way too overpriced in global market.

Anonymous, 22 Dec 2024That a lieNo. This is truth.

However, Last week when I told my friend I ran into unexpected traffic in New Jersey so I wouldn't be back early enough to help his aunt move things for an art exhibition I wasn't invited to, was a lie.

Huawei competes with the best and that includes Samsung. It takes money and plenty of resources to compete with the best and outcompete them.

The massive funding they got from central to build a fabricator and r&d setup. The price like the fruit is a huge mark up also known as profiteering.

2000 euro phone that no Android application will work on, sounds like a great deal to me.

Ome of reasons why I've returned Matepad Pro Paper 2024 is because Huawei is the only brand that doesn't say anything about updates, they don't promise even 1 month of updates. I gave up on their ecosystem, after my P40 Pro plus and Matepad Pro 2019 barely got any updates and now they're forgotten and left behind. This is very disappointing to me.
As for GMS, I don't know how much they will work as the Paper Mate Pad was seen as Android 12 by my PC. This is another reason why I stay away from Huawei. I like Pura 70 Pro very much but no thanks. And the Paper Mate wasn't worth 1000$ to be honest. Their products are overpriced a bit.

This is only a token device, to showcase Huawei still able to make advance phones with the restrictions imposed on them. I doubt Huawei expected any sales, and I doubt people outside tech youtubers would want to spend that much money on a software platform that lacks support.

yalim, 22 Dec 2024Huawei makes fun of customers with this priceWhat your actually looking at is the cost of them having to do everything domestic and local for their chips. It sucks they are higher priced, but it's actually impressive they have been able to pull off staying afloat and still bringing forth really good phones. Id say give it 5 years and you'll see a Huawei that's completely self reliant concerning their own chips, along with competitive performance and pricing

My last Huawei phone was Mate 50 Pro. I bought 2 of them actually. 1 international version and 1 Chinese version.
Both worked in the USA as far as service goes, HOWEVER finding a carrier that supports them is another issue altogether. At the time only Lyca mobile would work. Not the best reception with the Chinese version as you'd imagine. So unless there is another mobile provider out there that would support them in the USA, it's a sad pass for me.

In my experience as a Pura 70 ultra user, Huawei needs to solve their overheating issue with their new Kirin processors before they become recommendable. The ultra is hotter than an ROG7, I can't game with this phone. The cameras are superb despite chromatic aberration, ghosting artifacts scattered along the bokeh sections and some outlines respectively. So far samples from the new foldable and mate phones, Huawei seem to have worked on these issues.

Also, Huawei needs to be transparent about their update timelines. Global fans were eager to catch on the hype for the Pura and the AI software update promises, we pre-ordered the phones and now, 2025 is knocking at the door and we feel blindsided with those busted promises. All China rom users got their AI features on schedule as promised before launch. Global Pura adopters are left in the dust, wondering if we'll ever get those AI features or just security updates and then Harmony OS Next that so far I don't want.

With regards to GMS, it's so easy now to add Google (and Google-dependent) apps with microG. Just install the 3 microG components from their website and your good to go. The first app I installed was Google Maps using search in the App Gallery and it runs perfectly.

Takes better photos than my galaxy z fold 5 and my wife's iPhone 14 pro max. But apps are starting to behave worse. I can't use Adobe apps without a Google account anymore for example and GBox apps don't have access to all the functions + they are slower to load. The US really crippled Huawei, people don't realize the app problem is getting worse by the day
