HMD Arc is no-frills Android 14 Go smartphone

18 December 2024
It's rocking a dated Unisoc chipset and a 5,000 mAh battery with 10W charging.

4 GB of RAM?

I thought Android Go only supported up to 2 GB. Am I stupid or are they trying to trick customers by having 2GB of RAM + 2GB of "virtual ram"?

    Think from the point of view of the aimed market customers and not from your own point of view. You just pick on this cause you want to pick on something and that is what you do

        Anonymous, 19 Dec 2024Motorola moto g14 and g04, has ufs storage unlike any of me... moreThe only thing about storage people care is how much GB there is on the phone. Especially on these lowest end phones. Everything hardware is anyways trash on these low end

        Why even pick on that ? Never mind that the question was that nobody ever give examples of what is better. I posted some models for example and you can judge what is better or worse. Storage hardware version dont matter on these low end as the chip is already so slow that you wont play games on it and what you even need fast data transfer speeds on these lower end phones ?

                  Last year I bought Redmi 10 2022 version with 12 nm Mediatek G88, 6.5 inch FHD 90 Hz screen, 4 GB of ram and 64 GB of storage for $110.

                  Depends on the price I guess but what the hell is this HMD phone seriously...?

                      rizki1, 19 Dec 2024HMD in 2017 is unstoppable, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8 are one of ... moreSome sites said the Nokia 6 was better than the latest iPhone and would lead them to overtake Apple again. Only issue was that the Nokia 6 was a bog standard mid range phone with a below-average, slow inefficient chip for a very average price and unknown track record because the HMD company was new. Only saving grace was clean stock Android and promised (but not verifiable because new company) software support to be better than average in the price range.

                      And we know in which place HMD is now and in what place Apple is now.

                              but they're trying to catching up lately.

The low-end is practically abandoned and you can't expect anything extraordinary from this segment. Technology is a luxury that can only reach the hands of those who can afford it.

                                        hmd = horribly made devices

                                        buyer be aware, never buy from this company. they release rigged software updates in order to sabotage your smooth lag free android and render it useless by introducing software bugs, ui stutters and lags. your phone would be very slow and unresponsive after you install software updates. users from other companies become happier and feel satisfied after updating their phone, unlike hmd users, i felt frustration and anger which i still feel it even today 2 years after destroying my "horribly made device" with a hammer and throwing it in the trash bin. such horribly made device with horribly made materials shouldn't even get recycled.
                                        my nokia 6.2 gave me ptsd, i still haven't recovered till this day. infinix, iphone and later poco poco x6 pro made me feel much better and experiencing the joy people talk about after receiving a new android update. i never experienced that with "horribly made devices".
