No point if it's a thin device but chooses to skimp on specs

Being first or second is irrelevant, because most iPhone are using Samsung display, so win-win for Apple and Samsung.

We are living during the online marketplace era, anyone can buy any phone they want from anywhere on internet or apps. So, your argument is invalid.

"Will it beat the iPhone 17 Air? No."

Of course not, Samsung forever second place.

              Samsung: What do clients want?!?!
              Clients: Bigger batteries! PLEASE!
Samsung: You gotcha! The slimmest device we will ever design and will have 2000mAh!!!

Anonymous, 20 Dec 2024People don't want small compact phones. Only a loud mi... moreA lot more people want smaller, more compact smartphones, however those people aren't the super tech savvy people who need the greatest features, so they don't tend to upgrade when one comes out. The other main reason for the poor sales of compact phones is that they just flat out suck because manufacturers don't put enough effort into them, since it costs more in R&D to stuff decent guts into such a small body. It didn't matter which manufacturer you went to, their compact devices always had compromises. Less features, worse cameras, battery, performance, thermals, display, etc. Fixing any of these issues means to either drive up the price like crazy (which consumers wont like, since to them it looks like they're paying more for less), or to make the phone bigger, completely negating the reason for the device's existence

Before focusing on making a device thinner than it needs to be, how about focusing on the actual issues with galaxy devices? Slow updates, slow charging, inferior processing power compared to other devices (despite having the same chipset AND having it overclocked??), heaps of bloatware, not enough base storage for the prices they're charging, and losing more and more features year over year while also copying so much apple, despite supposedly still being a key innovator in the smartphone market?? not to mention that their in house chips just flat out suck. I'm still trying to figure out how their market share isn't dwindling with all this

If anyone here has held a thin tablet then you know how uncomfortable and inconvenient they are. If the sides are flat, good luck picking it up comfortably. And when you do manage to pick it up, using it for multiple hours will suck

phone companies: let's make some thin, long and wide phones

Back in 2017, moto released a phone with less than 6 mm thickness, aluminium body and dual camera. The phone also supported magnetically attached accessories on the back, all this while having top of the line specs. If samsung or apple somehow can make something as impressive, then I'm interested otherwise they're trying in vain

Anonymous, 20 Dec 2024Every chinese flagship with big battery capacity has lower ... more I'm pretty sure that's because they're locked out of the biggest market (US) for flagship phones, and there's also at least 5 top Chinese flagship makers (diluting their sells overall) and only one non-Chinese flagship Android maker worldwide Samsung (Google Pixel is only available in 12 markets). When you consider all of that, there's no reason why Samsung shouldn't be number one in flagship Android phones.

I fail to see who this is for; my current phone is 7.4mm thick and it's already a hassle picking it up off a desk because it's too thin, especially since I don't use cases. Any thinner than that would be even worse, plus, it obviously impacts the size of the battery and everyone wants longer lasting batteries not the other way around! Again, who asked for this??
