this is a huge nothing burger. supposedly it uses the same main sensor, zoom and selfie as the Pro, with only the ultrawide upgraded (to same as the main). so that's inferior main, selfie cameras to the X100 Ultra, same zoom and better ultrawide. i can't think of many people that would take a significant downgrade in main and selfie for a better ultrawide (that was adequate).

chinese manufacturers love to do this - ultra only china while rest of the world lower specs model

Darth Caesium, 8 hours agoIf you don't mind me asking, which phone are you using... morei think i've told you before lol it's a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. The DSLR-esque thing im talking about is the untouched output from the sensor, due to the photo not being processed it looks extremely natural so that's why i love the shots even if i think that the shots being taken are amazing or anything.

I mostly use the raw mode for the main cam and sparsely for the zoom cam, I use gcam for the 3x and 10x for the most part and have normal + RAW output on so i get the best of both worlds, i get a normal output and i can go and edit a RAW file if i want, and although the gcam raw output is still processed it's far better processed than how samsung's native app does it in auto mode and like since the sensor is super small, i kinda NEED to rely on the gcam processing if i ever want to use it in any situation that's NOT super well lit lol

I can send you some samples if you want, for ME these are DSLR-esque but i can't say for sure you'll think that way so i think you judging it for yourself would be for the best.

jiyen235, 13 hours agoi know someone who uses an X100 Pro and i saw some samples ... moreIf you don't mind me asking, which phone are you using? The DSLR-esque photo quality from RAW mode that you're speaking about is exactly what I'd love to have.

And with the return of the 1' type sensor and 4k120 from all sensors, this may very well be worth dealing with importing and Chinese ROMs and all that. I've never done it but this may be worth it. Absolutely love what Vivo and Xiaomi have been pushing with hardware and software.

Because I've been using it on my current device though, it works excellently with Snapdragon's chip and some Mediatek device also able to run it well. Motioncam Pro shoot almost DSLR-like images, their RAW and Direct Log Video also of high quality.

Anonymous, 13 hours agoAnd quite few sensors have 14-bit raws, it's just that... moreI watched comparison of Canon R5 8K RAW vs Xiaomi's Mi 14 Ultra 14-bit 4K DCG, to be honest its mindblowing how Xiaomi's 14-bit can achieve to a level almost able to match a full frame sensor. Of course the device need to be root, but honestly its pretty crazy to see the development of how some software tweaking bringing out the best of the camera sensor.

IMX363, 13 hours agoBecause it is a smartphone, and I need it to take good JPEG... morei know someone who uses an X100 Pro and i saw some samples from him, it looks mighty impressive and RAW mode shots basically are completely DSLR-esque, that's a pro AND a con, it looks both super natural but since it's so natural there's no HDR AND there's not much noise reduction. On the other hand it looks really pretty to me and since there's no noise reduction the details look immaculate. I prefer a noisy detail-rich photo to an oil painting and i love using RAW on my own phone. Anyways, i would have sent a video from youtube but i can't because i forgot which one i watched but I remember it being an LL Techview video and i just can't find it, it was a comparison video with another phone/other phones and he was comparing RAW modes and although Vivo does process their RAW shots a little, it still looks far more natural than even a Sony JPEG.

Also, you can just choose to turn off HDR and get more natural shots AND keep in mind that X100 Ultra onwards you get to tweak the sharpness, contrast, saturation, etc. so you can tweak the normal mode shots to your liking. Anyways, if you use RAW you can just batch process them, most of them just need slight noise reduction and just an auto exposure calibration and they're good to go, if you have Lightroom it's super simple just takes a little time to process that's all.

Speaking of which, the X100 Ultra got official back in May, so we may still be quite a few months away from the introduction of its successor. Unfortunately, unlike the X200 and X200 Pro which have recently made it to Western markets, the X200 Ultra is rumored to only be officially sold in China.

Well the Xiaomi 15 Ultry will come to all markets so it does not matter and i assume it will be better because it will be supported by Leica so its not that big loss.

jiyen235, 17 hours agohave you even tried using their beautiful RAW and ULTRARAW/... moreBecause it is a smartphone, and I need it to take good JPEG photos on its own. I am not going to sit down and edit 300 RAW photos I took on holidays.

Also, I have yet to see truly good RAW results. They always look off. Can you provide any good examples?
