Galaxy Z Flip7 again rumored to be Samsung’s first Exynos-powered foldable

It seems the Exynos 2500 will be at the helm of Samsung's next-gen flip foldable.

    Reason why samsung fails in flagship chip making is because of the samsung foundry not that exynos is bad if they want to compensate the samsung foundry with tsmc based exynos on their flagship and mid range devices like samsung A series will be powered by samsung based foundry chip and samsung S series should be powered by Tsmc based chip. This way they can make efficient chip for flagship phones and underclocked chip for midrange phones to prevent throttling caused by inferior design compared to tsmc counterpart

            Latest exynos chips perform very well in general. However, the power management has never changed and it is awful. Putting an enxynos into a flip is a marketing suicide..

              I read a DSSC(Counterpoint) article on foldable panel shipments through '24. I pulled this whole paragraph below for context, but my point relates to the last sentence.

              "Although the Z Fold 6 is expected to outperform the Z Fold 5 by mid-single digits in 2024 vs. 2023, Samsung’s total foldable panel procurement is expected to be down over 20% to the lowest level since 2021 with older models not performing well either. 'In fact, Samsung’s decline could have been worse if not for taking panels in Q4’24 for a model to be launched well into 2025.'"

              This could mean Samsung is cutting costs on the rumored Flip FE by using an Exynos chip and a smaller screen ratio like the Z6 Flip.

Getting 1.5-2 days on my Flip5. Cover screens catering for all basic needs means you save a lot of power, not powering up a 6.8" display to read and dismiss a notification.

                      Lol. Another flop in the making if they use Ex-s-h-i-t-n-o-s.

                      The only reason the Flip and Fold sell so well is because consumers in many countries don't have much a choice when it comes to foldables.

                      Make other foldables from Vivo, Honor, etc. available worldwide, and the Galaxy Flop (Flip) and Failed (Fold) sales will take a huge bellyflop. 😂

                            If the Exynos is efficient and gives good battery life and performance, most people will not care or understand the difference between the two chips. For me, I just wish Samsung will put a better camera and make it thinner and a bit wider.

                              Samsung needs to stop using their mid range level chips in their flagship phones.

                                RIP Z Flip series

                                Going with the Razr+ 2025 anyway. I heard this rumor like 4-5 months ago. The Snapdragon 8 Elite ($190) is going to be costly for manufacturers who want that chip on their phones. Expect price increases for any phone using it. Razr+ 2025 may use the 8S Elite instead which is cheaper and underclocked.

                                Still rocking my matte black Z Flip 3 I got on release day back in Aug 27, 2021, and it still works like a charm. Yes, it has the much maligned Snapdragon 888 but that’s also the chip that got me back into retro emulation. Only had to peel off the screen protector and everything still looks good. Even the battery life remains the same because I cap it to only 85% and do use a few other phones.

                                No need to upgrade unless you really NEED to. Most phone upgrades can expand to 4-5 year intervals instead of 2-3.

                                      Unfortunately, SD is the one who behaves best among the children, they upload patches to Linux and are verified the other is probably ashamed of their solutions

                                        If you handed an Exynos device to someone and said it had a Snapdragon, then they wouldn't care. If you handed them a Snapdragon device and said it used an Exynos, then they wouldn't be happy. It's just past reputation - just look at the Exynos 990 vs Snapdragon 865.
