With muscle memory however it's much faster, but for that you need visual or haptic cues that what you did registered, for you to be ready to perform the next action.
All this no-animation speed hype is non-sensical for most users, if you use the device as a developer, going through the same things all the time, multiple times, then I'd understand, but in daily use turning off animations solves nothing, and looks bad.

Great to see Samsung finally optimizing their flagship phone at the end of first year of it's lifecycle, lol.
Better late than never, though, this will surely boost the user experience, and sales in long term, good job Samsung.

On my LG G8x, I've set it to "Animation off" on all three window options. I immediately felt the difference. This was 3 years ago I think. Rarely felt any lag since then. It feels way faster this way, and I do suspect lesser GPU & battery use, can't confirm tho.

Well, not bad.
But that should be a hint to Samsung and most Android OEMs. Enough with the time wasting slow UI animations. They only give the impression to users that your phone is sluggish. Just set the default to the 0.7x speed that is available in developer option. Modern Android is smooth. We don’t have to mask it anymore with time wasting animations that made people think Android is always more sluggish than iOS.

[deleted post]"No, they do not have the best hardware for fingerprint unlocking. Yes, it's ultrasonic.."
Did I really?
I said they don't have the BEST, not that they don't have any at all.

TechDevil, 03 Jan 2025S24u has 3d sonic scanner. Educate yourself Chinese/apple fanboyI'm not an Apple fanboy, don't know where you got that from. Either way, it's still a much smaller fingerprint scanner than the 3D Sonic Max is, so it doesn't matter.

I simply replied to a comment that was WRONGFULLY calling out ultrasonic fingerprint scanners.
"The Galaxy S24 is equipped with Qualcomm’s second-generation 3D Sonic sensor did you not know that??"
So what? It's smaller than the 3D Sonic Max.

Okay, so this time I'm just gonna have a simple question that I already know you won't answer. What mistake did I make this time? Only this time, don't start talking about anything else, and don't tryna make up things, just answer me this much.

You're still making mistakes time and time again. In you bias towards (bashing) Samsung you're most likely ignorant of the facts or don't want to present it.
BTW S24 Fingerprint Unlocking you can set different fingers to open differ apps
So in the nano seconds saved whether or not a $800 flagship is equipped 3D Sonic Max.
This is what an impartial post would have included

"In January 2024, Samsung released the Galaxy S24 series with several upgraded features and capabilities, but the device still uses the old fingerprint sensor. It means the fingerprint recognition sensor used in Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is Qualcomm’s 2nd generation 3D Sonic sensor and not the 3D Sonic Max.
As per the report, Samsung has been using Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint recognition sensor since the launch of the Galaxy S10 series, and it has been significantly upgraded in the newly released Galaxy S24 series. The Galaxy S24 is equipped with Qualcomm’s second-generation 3D Sonic sensor.
Hence, the Ultra model of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series uses the ultimate fingerprint recognition sensor but it’s NOT the upgraded 3D Sonic Max which was further tipped to be equipped in Galaxy S23 Ultra. Suprema applied an AI-based fingerprint analysis algorithm that efficiently recognizes the abundant fingerprint information.
The Galaxy S24 is equipped with Qualcomm’s second-generation 3D Sonic sensor did you not know that??

Total Recall? 😂
Rhetorical why do we care that two of your FIFTY phones have Ultrasonic Scanner??
We don't better to have posted an unsolicited irrelevant comment than not.

i dont think the fingerprint scanner itself got faster, but rather the animations are faster, less stuttery AND smoother, the title duped me lol
Also, it'd be cool if someone tested out locking the phone, waiting for a few mins and then unlocking it from a black screen, from my testing the animation has always been pretty stuttery UNLESS you use AOD, even then it's only LESS stuttery, the only way to fix it is to press the lock button/wake the phone up and then use the fingerprint scanner, after that the animation's actually quite smooth and nice.
anyways, i agree with the article writer, there's still some ways to go but it's a step in the right direction. I just wonder if Samsung's intentionally keeping all these features at bay and slowly releasing major stuff with each major phone release to make it seem like they're doing a lot of things.
