They kind of are, for how bad it is. Don't get me wrong I don't like One UI, or Hyper OS, but vanilla android and likes would be fine if it wasn't for the bugs Sony has.

I got tired of the Galaxy S that are becoming more and more boring and generic, I took an XPERIA 1VI out of curiosity but it has become for me the best smartphone of the year. How could I buy anything else if the Sony smartphone offers everything I need, especially a very very useful micro SD slot. Its only weak point is the zoom which is not powerful enough as on the last Galaxy S, otherwise the smartphone is much better in several features.

Honestly, since when Sony known for their software? They basically focusing on hardware specs since like the early day of Sony and Sony Ericsson. I mean during AI-infused era like this, Sony method developing their own AI feels subtle. Especially when I acquired Xperia since Live with Walkman WT19i/Xperia E up to my current Xperia 1 II not because of their software expertise at all and as first step of my learning curve and baby step of owning a Sony Alpha. And both of my parents still using Sony Xperia since long time ago as well. I am really not a fan of heavily customized UI (I'm looking at you, both HyperOS and One UI) and keeping as vanilla with some unique twists like Xperia with Xperia Home UI and Motorola with Hello UI is the way to go to me. Combining that with now all the features I'm desperately needs is limited (MicroSDXC, headphone jack front-firing speakers, 2-stage proper camera button, and simplistic design yet light under 200 gr, and probably in software side, the most complete manual control camera mode in smartphone, all in a flagship), dwindled my option to Xperia only. Even when Xperia 1 VI is shifting more mainstream, at least the core design is still recognizable as Sony Xperia (unlike XZ2 and XZ3 design that deviate too much), so the others options isn't just as I desire or even needed.

"I also find it interesting how many people seem to like Sony flagships here, yet they basically don't exist on the market"

Considering how a lot of Android hardware features are being removed or switched due to indirect Apple influence and Sony is the last defender of those most if not all features (Sony sometimes known as the Anti-Apple in smartphone world), Sony's consistency on its simple, boxy, rectangular design since OG Xperia Z for decade and the remaining defining feature of Xperia, as well the slander Xperia gets these times in this site for being unique, don't expect the wane of Xperia support and the less online Xperia user are pretty much underground, unless they did the same blunder as XZ2/XZ3 series in 2018 again. And yes, I owned 8 Xperia since 2011 so I'm talking from my 14 year experience with Sony. Sure the upcoming Xperia 1 VII 3D render is making me little worried but we'll see how it will happen next, and I do owned an iPhone 13 Pro Max, but my main phone will certainly still Xperia as long Xperia is still launching new product.

Anonymous, 05 Jan 2025Best flagship was none. Only midrangers are good. Why buy... moreMaybe because it makes more sense to use one good phone at a time than 3 mediocre phones.

                        Vivo X200 Pro

Nubia redmagic 10 pro as you get latest hardware for like 650 bucks, people will complain about only two updates, but who care? Typical phone will lose half of its juice in battery before you even notice that phone need major update to work properly... and security patches are pure placebo.

                          And from foldables?
Not a fan but Moto Razr 50 ultra is probably best spec-quality-price ratio.
