This guy could've just said his favorite phone of 2024 since he praised S24 Ultra so much. Typical Samsung fanboy

OneBraincelledWunkus, 05 Jan 2025you guys realize what's the issue with the s24 ultra? ... moreI get where you're coming from, especially if you're still using the Note 10 Plus it was definitely ahead of its time. But I think the S24 Ultra has made some solid upgrades, like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, the 200 MP camera, and better battery life. Plus, the longer software support is a big deal for me. If your Note 10 Plus still works for you, that’s awesome, but for someone like me upgrading after years, the S24 Ultra feels like a worthwhile choice.

OneBraincelledWunkus, 05 Jan 2025you guys realize what's the issue with the s24 ultra? ... moreholy wall of text to justify your phone batman
anyway, if the s24u is "just like the note 10" and the note 10 is evidently good enough to be irreplaceable for multiple years (as per your comment) why exactly should they newfangle the design?
yeah infinity edge is cool but its realistically mostly a gimmick

you guys realize what's the issue with the s24 ultra? It's the same phone from 5+ years ago, the note 10 plus, which incidentally has been my phone for the past 5 years and 2 months so I can tell you the reasons I haven't been compelled to update. Now it sounds absurd but the body design has been the same, they moved the spen location, every year they made the sides less and less round till the display was finally flat with the s24u. The cameras made a big jump with the note 20 to high res 1/1.3 main and periscope telephoto, but then they just fell behind even when they updated one of the cameras every generation. The battery made a small jump to note 20u, then in the s21 they got it to 5000mah and it has sat at that number till today, and will continue so with the s25u. Same thing with charging speeds. Displays have gotten brighter, decently so, but competition is almost twice as bright, but the ar coating does compensate and it's probably the only innovation we've seen from samsung. I have tested all of the flagships, they have felt exactly the same as my note excluding the better cameras. This isn't a bad thing, all technology plateaus, but the phone that's supposed to be the very best from samsung does not have the best features, it hasn't had them for the past 5 years, they were slow to catch up with huawei, they put a periscope camera a year after huawei did. 1 inch sensors have been a thing for what, 2 years now, yet they refuse to put one in their best phone. And with the s24u they downgraded the periscope, a complete joke that is, they should have kept the previous one since they've always boasted about 100x zoom capability and instead replaced the 3x telephoto with a 50mp sensor or even better do what vivo did and put another 200mp sensor in it's place for absolute gorgeous results up to 10x and from there let the old 230mm periscope do it's thing, but rumor has it they won't even upgrade the 3x telephoto with the s25u, just the ultrawide. like it's a complete joke at this point, they've gotten complacent.

Awesome article, discussing and emphasizing certain aspects I have not been aware of so far. Wouldn't have thought that the anti-reflective coating in the S24 ultra made such an impact. And I never before heard of the cute Xiaomi foldable, which looks like a phenomenal device.

xPandamon, 05 Jan 2025It doesn't, if you actually take care of your device a... moreyou can't really say it "doesn't" occur. It WILL occur, the only question is "when?" The same thing as OLEDs dying out, but since phones are small and don't produce much heat, phone OLEDs are pretty dang long lasting. This AR coating has only been used for like the first time on a phone so no wonder it's gonna show drawbacks, really funny how nobody likes to acknowledge it or even call it out so props to Mr Vlad for saying it. Otherwise people like you will be gaslighting others into thinking nothing like that will ever happen.

S24U no doubt is superb device, but design is too ugly. Ugly top and bottom flat and fat sides, sharp corners... This is the reason I've sold my S23U without any wish to look at the same ugly S24U. S25U might change my attitude. Will see.
