If someone lives in a country where people are prosecuted because they do not share the same opinions as the government, they want at least some control about when and where they allow to be tracked. So far, if you switch off your device, you cannot be tracked, and this invention overrides this possibility.
Anti-theft measures are a great thing, but it would be even better if the user can decide for tehmselves if and when they want that feature turned on.

    Can this feature be (entirely) turned off by the user? If not, this would be a reason not to buy such a device that can spy on people and track their location even if they don't wish so.

      Can this feature work for only a certain time after the device is powered off ? Or does it work always

        I need it then and other companies should copy these enough of phone theft

          Another "new" feature of Android 15, that has been already exist on Samsung phone for years..

          Maybe next time i can guess next new feature of Android 16 only by seeing the features of OneUI 7 on Samsung phone.

            Oneplus doesn't add many features to their products, but the features they DO add are genuinely useful.

                    the $100 is quite a steep asking if it only for a single feature, however, sd8g4 itself is an improvement over sd8g3 and with the feature, you can easily locate it later. if it was bought by a third party shops, it just put them into lava pool, buying stolen item. on more civilised countries, it would easily discourage theft crime. however, id rather this feature to be listed on each of newer SoC otherwise it would only applicable to the top dogs

                      Lol, now you will understand (probably) why everyone was forced to build smartphones with sealed batteries, despite all green transition bs, taxes, economy, government talk,etc.. ;) but don't worry, buy smartphone, smartwatch, smart home appliances, smart cars and..yes, government is protecting you and your privacy ;) Google, Apple and Microsoft just help them in the process ;)
