Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim runs Geekbench, disappoints

09 January 2025
Hopefully it's just a fluke due to the prototype nature of the device being tested.

Shellyman Studios, 10 Jan 2025I never understood the thin phone phase. As with most things, it was a race between manufacturers to see who can make the thinnest phone
Back then there was fierce competition between giants like Samsung, LG, HTC and Sony so they tried their best to beat the others
But now with LG and HTC out of the game and Sony being reduced to irrelevancy, Samsung's only competitors are the generic Chinese copy paste phones rebrands of one another which is why Samsung can now release the same phone every year and still profit. There's also Apple of course but Android and ios are their own thing with their own ecosystem so people using one will hardly switch to the other

The processor was underclocked to prevent overheating. Slim phones lack room for an effective heatsink.

A Galaxy flagship with Ultra cameras, even updated 3x and uktrawide, but smaller than the Ultra, without the usless Stoothpick and with nice rounded corners?

Count me in. Don't care about benchmarks.

Meh, this doesn't matter. The ones who are paying attention to benchmarks are gamers, and gamers are not the target customer of slim phones. Meanwhile, having an SD8 Elite means the phone has access to flagship ISP, neural engine, and the latest modem (which Qualcomm gatekeep from their lower chips).

If you're after high benchmarks and bought this phone, it's on you.

I have to wonder how many people will actually go anywhere near max scores for day to day use. I use my phone for calls, emails, photos. I dont play games and don't think any apps I use (social media) use near the middle range.

Nobody's surprised when samsung is basically an apple copycat trying to compete against the iPhone 17 air on to of that nobody even wants a slimmer phone with probably less battery

Since the screen is used for cooling, a big screen actually helps with it way more than having a thick phone
