Phones get better with times but because of the much feature they had added, means something have to be sacrificed. The durability. Old phone have 4000 mah battery, No? Nokia feature phone have 6.7 OLED screen, no? Does feature phone has fingerprint sensor, no?
You just can't have everything. There has to be a consequences. I heard there's new phone still have removable battery but the most people won't use it as daily driver. Check Jerry rig everything channel on YouTube. I don't remember the name of the phone. Is it hmd, I'm not sure

If this is true, it will definitely affect my decision to buy S25 Ultra. To some S-Pen is the main point. If the phone has it but do not have the full features, I will ditch this for something that will suit my needs. Keep your fingers crossed that it is not going to happen. Samsung, you will lose your market share surely.

Anonymous, 12 Jan 2025The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is rated IP68, so I don't... moreJust because it is written as IP68, does not mean that the company will always implement IP68.
              Especially the 8.

              ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
              DETILS:
Test duration: agreement with the manufacturer
Depth: specified by the manufacturer, generally up to 3 meters (9.8 ft)

              https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_code#Code_breakdown
              ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Keep in mind the key words "set by manufacturer"
Basically corporations can set their own test parameters which can be 1 minute for all we know.
              They can do it.
              There is no specified parameter.

7 has specific details than 8.

              ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
              DETILS:
              Test duration: 30 minutes.
Depth: Tested with the lowest point of the enclosure 1,000 mm (39 in) below the surface of the water, or the highest point 150 mm (5.9 in) below the surface, whichever is deeper.

              https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_code#Code_breakdown
              ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8 should be better than 7, but as the information shows, "set by manufacturer".
It should be greater than IPx7, true, but there is no specific parameter.
Manufacture can make IPx7.05 and call it IPx8.

              S24 has IP68 (up to 1.5m for 30 min)
Time is basically the same as IPx7 (30 min) but the depth is below the generally agreed by manufacturers (3 m [half]).

And then the salt-on-wound (if you read full post), increased price tag for the unit while also removing bluetooth s-pen functionality.

Please read details and use common logic first.
And not to be corporate microphone, yes.

Doing away with the bluetooth on the S-pen will surly push people away from upgrading as can see Samsung sales falling for this kind ans what's is left of the S24 ultra, people will still go for that, and even the S23 ultra,
Samsung is more bothered now pf cost cutting, to make money, and even the updates seem to have bugs in them.
Make you wonder is Samsung wants to destroy its own firm, as its destroyed it with lack of Sd card in all flagship.
And first bluetooth pen came to the Note 9.
And I feel it's time for a change now from Samsung because no difference to what you get previous,
And this Google message is tosh big style now
People don't part even with the Note phones as to the Note 20 ultra and not S24 ultra
Samsung has started to dig its own grave.
                Bye bye sam.

Also, I forgot to add, not only did they not implement water and dust resistance (to an extent), they also removed useful hardwares like headphone jacks & mico sd card slot (& now bluetooth functionality for the s-pen), and to add the salt-on-wound, they jacked up the price.
Some would dare say this as price gouging or greedflation.

I still have my Nokia 8250, 5310, and Sony Ericsson W302 in working condition, though no longer daily driving them.
Hence the quote "they just make them like they used to".

Electronic devices and water just do not mix.
Water resisting an electronic device difficult is but not impossible.
It's just companies won't do it so that they can sell you new phones rather than repair the old one.
Sound familiar? That's Samsung copying Apple's shenanigans.
Yet Samsung was able to water resit their devices before Apple in the 2010's.

Also, in the 2000's water and dust resistance can be an excuse.
But in 2020, that's 20 years of advancement, innovations, and improvements or water & dust resistance, this is no longer and an excuse.
It's corporations intentionally not implementing full water & dust resistance and is betting on customer incompetence.

So that if that device gets damaged or wet,
"Don't fix the device, buy a new one."
"Oh, you still want to fix the device, well, we will just damage the device further and force you to buy a new one. And there ain't nothing you can do about it. hehehe".

Stecil, 11 Jan 2025Removable batteries? Are u still living in 2000's??Samsung XCover 7 has a removable battery. I don't understand why you think that people that do not live in the 2000s shouldn't ask for removable batteries. With the current state of technology, the only thing that limits the lifespan of a phone is the battery. Make it removable and a phone can live forever. But this is not in the interest of capitalism.
