Our Poco X7 Pro battery life test is now ready

14 January 2025
It's an improvement over the last generation, but perhaps not as good as the battery capacity would make you believe.

And this is with 6000mAh battery and a 4nm SoC? Embarrassing.
People who still think HyperOS to be good/great should get their heads checked.

Xiaomi literally makes Exynos look better.

Poor xiaomi they need 6000mah and a super efficient CPU to get trash battery results.

As everyone below already stressed - hyper os2 is the culprit here. Although reviews say the incredible overnight/idle drain is fixed, apparently there are lots of issues/bloat/ads/spyware which are not ok and cause excessive battery consumption. Adding bigger battery and different anode, charging times, etc. aren't really a solution.

Xiaomi should sit down and work on their software, if they want to gain more customers. All the flop with 14 series (incl T and Tpro), Poco 6 and now 7 series... Disaster, caused by overly proud software department

What I think is the issue here is Xiaomi's "optimisation". The software has to learn your usage patterns, right?

What I feared and mentioned in another article regarding Xiaomi and the hype surrounding the new battery tech is reality. Flashing with big battery sizes but not optimising your device is actually lying to your customers. They are told to think that they will have a superb battery performance but it isn't, especially not with this size of battery. It reminds me of a much older Galaxy M series device with an equally large battery that had the same disappointing performance. HyperOS was announced to be so much more efficient on all accounts (especially on the battery efficiency department) but it isn't. I feel like it's worse than MiUI of old. The same goes for other Chinese brands bragging about big batteries with new tech. When looking at my Nord 4 the battery performance isn't bad but certainly not mindbogglingly better than any other device with a more standard battery. Do Chinese brands have a new thing to brag about but not delivering it as advertised? It seem so...

I think this is possible for Xiaomi to optimise their devices for a good battery life!
It sucks! And Xiaomi must learn even newly novice company 'Realme' in this case.
What's the use of buying xiaomi's device cause I've been noticed that none of xiaomi phone has ever done well in battery area.

Since they're pushing more product in the market, their ability to make sure the software is optimized with all the products they release is also diminished greatly.

"Ok, these run fine. There's no need for further optimization and fine tuning everything for a affordable device. On to the next we go!"

                  🤦‍♂️

Dang, goes to show how inefficient HyperOS is. This is what happens when you focus solely on pushing product quantity rather than quality. Smh Xiaomi 🤦‍♂️

It's pure disappointment . Other companies with 5000mah reach higher level of screen on time easily 😂

Thank you for that test. It's something I definitely pay attention to in a phone, tired of them dying on me when I need them most - travelling and unable to charge.

One info I'd like is battery longevity. I know it's a pain to test, but I'm fairly sure fast charging kills batteries faster, so seeing it always listed as a positive when I'm fairly sure we shouldn't use it is jarring. On the contrary, I'm interested in phones that implement battery protection, which was, then wasn't, now is supposed to be an Android 15 feature, but some OEMs already kinda do anyway ?

All my Xiaomi phones and tablets ended up with bloating batteries. All my Lenovo/Moto and Hawei gizmos didn't ? (I use older phones and tablets around my work PC until they physically die - usually the battery, in the case of my OG Galaxy Note v1, its Flash RAM).

pl2rts, 14 Jan 2025I dont understand why even talk about A55 A55 competition ... moreWell competition isn't made by which processor a phone has, but pricing. But whatever you were comparing it to your F5 and like I said, this battery is only 20% bigger so quite unreasonable to expect this to be much better. It is just better, but in all Xiaomi's fashion for the last few years, battery life still isn't good enough compared to another brands.

ashrobb, 14 Jan 20256000 is only 20% bigger than 5000, so difference was never ... moreI dont understand why even talk about A55
A55 competition is Redmi Note Pro and Pro+

Maybe at best Poco X7 with D7300 (that is also in note pro) that is weaker then Exynos 1480 but not a lot

                                Shameful battery performance

pl2rts, 14 Jan 2025It's only 1 hour for 1000mah more battery. I expect a ... more6000 is only 20% bigger than 5000, so difference was never going to be a lot bigger, specially within the same brand. Now when you compare it to the battery life on Samsung A55 for example then it shows the true colors of Xiaomi's implementation. That being said, Dimensity 8400 is in a completely different league from Exynos 1480.

Still not good enough. In fact, X6 pro (Which itself already sucks) will probably last longer in real life usage since it offers more than 5h talk time, which is essentially 4G usage. The "active usage" they test is Wifi usage. So the X7 will be marginally better when used with wifi, but significantly worse when using mobile data.

ashrobb, 14 Jan 2025Improved over X6 Pro, sure, but still not great for a 6k mA... moreMi 11 lite 5g ne and Poco f3 with with under 4.5k mah scored similar to this 6k mah..bring back miui again

I ditched xiaomi simply because their terrible battery endurance. Switched to Vivo and couldn't be happier. Faster charging, longer battery.
