This is exactly why I tell people all the time not to worry about the S25U Ultra. This has the new Mediatek chip and a big battery and still falls flat. Optimization does a lot. One UI 6.1 seems to be awful on my S23 Ultra since AI or circle to search ruined battery life (atleast to some extent), which One UI 7 aswell as the new chip should help improve again. The S23 Ultra wasn't bad at all either, still holding up well to the new oh so amazing phones. Honestly, even with the same 5000 mAh battery, the new chip should help the S35 Ultra to be very competitive

Anonymous, 14 Jan 2025Stop it with the mediatek SoC is not efficient, geekerwan r... moreEfficient of cpu/Gpu doesn't equal battery life, atleast in Gsmarena test. Call test is more of modem efficient, video streaming is affected by media engine and display Quality, Browsing display/Cpu/Gpu etc
Batterylife wise Cortex A55 is still best core available with power consumption around 0.1-0.5 Watts.

I had the Poco X6 Pro and Poco F6.
I have now the Poco X7 Pro, which is much more fluide in every aspects, especially while scrolling. I guess that its power needs more energy.

About youtube you need more details, if software render or hardware render was used, codecs used etc.
Am not saying GSMARENA or that YouTuber is right but usual it's hard comparing different methodology.
You can check Phonearena, Notebookcheck etc consistency Xiaomi regressed a lot in battery life, In Phonearena test Redmi note 11 series are still ranking above all poco/redmi released past 3 years.

Xiaomi 14 has very good battery life with hyper os 1, screen is slightly smaller and ltpo but also has a much smaller battery. They only optimize it for 1 or 2 phones for global i guess.

Stop it with the mediatek SoC is not efficient, geekerwan reviewed it and it's very efficient, actually close to snap 8 gen 3, that's why xiaomi have to buy the exclusivity of the chip otherwise it would be obvious competition do so much better with equivalent hardware.
Xiaomi is the worst brand for battery life by far, there is no question about it look at the xiaomi 14 ultra there flagship it's sooooo bad.

Wow, I'm surprised by the result.
Either the SOC is terrible with energy efficiency, since this is 1st phone with this soc.
Or Hyper OS is not properly baked.
With 6000 mah, this result is disastrous.

Hemedans, 14 Jan 2025What did he test? Did he do video streaming for 16 hours? D... morehe tests like GSMArena too, there is gaming, stress test, tiktok everything but for a few hours.. I don't know, Nord 4 and other phones should get more hours on YouTube if GSMArena gets longer battery but in fact it doesn't... so who would browse and stream for that many hours? well, if there is a phone better battery in browsing, that means it's nothing if gaming can only last for 1 hour... like you once said to me about UFS speed.

Just flash custom slim MIUI rom and enjoy blazing fast xiaomi speeds and very long battery times.
With custom ROM, xiaomi easily beats all Samsung, apple and pixel devices in every single test.

PetrovBG, 14 Jan 2025Nah, this would mostly impact standby times. I have removed... moreNot sure, tbh. If you have telemetry/ad services listeners, etc. those will fire up when the corresponding network activity is happening.. e.g. browsing, media streaming incoming,etc.. only the background spyware like location and mic/camera data collection services would impact standby times, imho.
So probably a good way to check it is if you can play an offline game. Turn off all radio and see gaming time. Then enable all radio and do the same..
If you have a way to sniff wifi traffic you might also catch what is going on background...
But it's pointless, we know what is happening, just there is no easy way to fix it
