It's not an upgrade, it's not a downgrade - it's a sidegrade of sorts.

CompactLover, 16 hours agowhat is everyone thought about no more selfie cam for flips... moreI get your point, but it means that you have to flip down the screen every time to use the camera and there are still lots of apps that don't work on the outer screen.

what is everyone thought about no more selfie cam for flips since we can see just fine the face (selfie, vc etc) using main cam? getting rid of notch would be a better main screen utilisation

There is no point in having a telephoto lens unless you have 3x. Modern 50mp main sensors can do lossless 2x. However, uw is something not possible without a dedicated lens. A good update by xiaomi. Now it has no shortcomings against galaxy flip at least on paper. Chinese are so hyped on folding phones but, flip phones(clamshell) are making the biggest sales in folding form factor.

Good, 2x zoom is rly small. Main in 2x zoom is better. UW is best.

On the other side, tele cameras can't be emulated without digital zoom, which degrades image quality.

YUKI93, 14 Jan 2025I see men who also use ultrawide cameras for group photos.Even better, they fulfill the requirement for a panorama, and don't have to deal with glitches from shakes and artifacts when moving the phone around in panorama mode. A total lifesaver for those who rely on their phones for photography!

Darth Caesium, 14 Jan 2025Why couldn't they have both?Yeah, Oppo can do it with the Find N3 Flip.

Sorry, but I always find the telephoto camera more useful than the ultrawide camera. After all, main wide camera sensor nowadays can be as wide as 24mm or 23mm.

Darth Caesium, 14 Jan 2025Why couldn't they have both?Or use a telephoto camera as the main lens and the ultrawide as an auxiliary, because that configuration makes sense with zero compromises.

                          Telephoto, I rarely use.
                          Wide angle, often use.
                          I like small flip phone.
So this phone is for me. :)

Ultra wide is much more useful than telephoto since in-sensor zoom became standard but I agree with the author that fitting both is the best solution instead of having to choose

Invetor, 14 Jan 2025telephoto >>> ultrawideNo, flip phone is mainly targeted for women. 2x insensor digital zoom from the main camera is quite enough for women. Ultrawide is better for them. For group selfie.

Yes! Finally! As if a mere 2x telephoto was ever a good option. Ultrawide all the way!

If anything, it's arguably more of an upgrade. Having a mere 2x optical zoom is kind of redundant when you have a high resolution main camera right next to it that's more than capable of 2x in-sensor zoom.
