Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 specs leak revealing a controversial camera twist

Vlad, 14 January 2025

Xiaomi's Mix Flip 2 is rumored to launch earlier in the year than its predecessor thanks to that device's allegedly very good sales numbers. The Mix Flip 2 will allegedly arrive with a bigger battery in a thinner and lighter body, which is all good news.

Today we have some not so good news as well. The Mix Flip 2 will stick with two 'rear' cameras, and interestingly will switch the telephoto of the original with a 50 MP ultrawide using a 1/2.76" type sensor. This will be paired with a 50 MP main camera with a 1/1.5" type sensor.

The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and its main, folding LTPO OLED screen will have "1.5K" resolution and 6.85" size. The cover display will remain huge, NFC will be supported, and there will be a side-mounted fingerprint sensor embedded into the power button.

The Mix Flip 2 will be IPX8 certified for water resistance, unlike its predecessor, and will also support wireless charging. These are all the spec details that have been outed today. Overall it's looking like an interesting upgrade compared to the original, but we do wish Xiaomi would have fitted three cameras on the rear to avoid the inevitable telephoto vs. ultrawide discussion.

I get your point, but it means that you have to flip down the screen every time to use the camera and there are still lots of apps that don't work on the outer screen.

what is everyone thought about no more selfie cam for flips since we can see just fine the face (selfie, vc etc) using main cam? getting rid of notch would be a better main screen utilisation

There is no point in having a telephoto lens unless you have 3x. Modern 50mp main sensors can do lossless 2x. However, uw is something not possible without a dedicated lens. A good update by xiaomi. Now it has no shortcomings against galaxy flip at l...
