Hopefully Sony makes the Xperia 5 again. We need more compact flagships.

      2 - The 5 was NOT COMPACT AT ALL. It was a giant phone, barely any smaller than the 1. Which is why it had no appeal. Sony should've made it a sub-6" screen, a REAL Compact version of the 1 to make it appealing, not a watered down, extremely expensive and still oversized option.
      Their Compacts always outsold their larger versions. Back when they were done properly.

          Okay, so all the eligible Xperia 1 series got the Android 15 updates, so do the final Xperia 5 series. Which points out that, the last 2 Xperia that will get the Android 15 updates are both the Xperia 10 VI and 10 V. Hopefully this month or at least February.

Xperia 5 series was cancelled because their sales was never higher than Xperia 1 series despite Xperia 5 was indeed much more affordable than 1 series (unlike the situation of vanilla XZ/Z series where it sold higher than the Xperia XZ/Z Premium); compact form factor that is not something a lot of average people wanted, and Xperia 1 VI amalgamation of features from Xperia 5 series like the FHD+ screen integrated to 1 series already made Xperia 5 redundant from that point, due to the remaining differences would be the size, form factor, and probably number of camera lens, and that's not whole a lot.

              rizki1, 16 Jan 2025They could only get faster after the Pixel, stock Android d... moreHonestly, considering their software developer and software maintenance team for Xperia is now significantly smaller than during the Z series and XZ series (but way faster pre-2016 era Android update in the past), even compared to THE Google Pixel and Nothing Team, I think it's much rationale reasoning if not an understandable reason why the pace is slower than those two. But as far I can remember, all Xperia that is older than the current generation (in this case Mark V compared to Mark VI), always have their new Android updates fall in the month of December to February since 2019/2020.

                    While brand like Samsung, it is quite understandable for the intentional delay because they will give Android 15 to last 5 gen of flagship (s21 series to s25 series). The first ever of big OS upgrades in history of Android.

                      They could only get faster after the Pixel, stock Android doesn't need much customization and Sony only makes 2 phones a year but is still this slow. Even Nothing is faster.

                        All my friends Galaxy S21 will get Android 15, so my xperia 5 iii will also get it.
