Bobi7x7, 17 Jan 2025"Stop being a fan"
👆statement made by OnePlus ... moreNo, you don't understand anything at all. The things I write about Samsung are in response to a Samsung forum troll who non-stop shits nonsense under every single article that is not about Samsung. Do you want us to applaud him? But you all turn a blind eye to his nonsense and "don't see it".
I am not a fan of OnePlus, I have repeatedly said that I am a fan of spending my money in the most reasonable way and getting the most for it. That's why my first phones were Samsung, then Motorola, then Samsung again, Xiaomi and now OnePlus. I have never bought a phone because of the brand itself. The next time I buy a phone, if Samsung offers the best deal and the most for the money - I will buy their phone.
I'm tired of repeating the same thing, but apparently I have to say it. Saying that there is a scandal with 1+ with a green line on the display is equivalent to saying that there is a scandal with Samsung and their pink lines on the displays and banana effects, etc. Look at your own plate and enjoy what you have, instead of spitting on others, especially when in 99 percent of cases you have only seen them in pictures and have never used them. And I don't care a bit which company sells how much. Ferrari has models that are limited to, say, 500 units only, but I will always prefer it to any Prius sold in millions.

Very competitive market …
If I remember correctly Vivo were out of top 3 for the past years .. but hey now they’ve returned to the top. So does Huawei .
But with iPhone SE on the horizon, Apple probably back to the top at the end of 2025. Chinese market always be a tricky to figure out what the consumer wants.
They probably buy :
Apple : Status symbol, iOS experience
Vivo : innovation, cheaper and closer to apple in terms of software
Huawei : patriotic, status symbol, deep integration of harmonyos with others iot products?
Xiaomi : just a cheap knockoff of apple products even though they’ve tune down lately but the sentiments still there

Anonymous, 17 Jan 2025apple products are status symbols for the masses who have a... moreapple products aren't bad, just painfully average considering the price. I wouldn't really attack their fanbase like that. Besides, Apple phones are perfect for normies, most people don't use or do anything crazy and Apple phones only advertise "professional" stuff without properly fleshing stuff out, which makes normies think that they're getting something exceptional and makes em feel like they're gonna do something really crazy with their phone when in reality they won't.
I used to mock Apple fans before but right now, Samsung and Google fans fit that bill perfectly. Horrible phones for the price yet a crazy fanbase. I genuinely have seen Apple fanboys who are less of a slop lover than these "people" who praise Google and Samsung.

Maybe that would explain why OnePlus had poor sales in 2024, because many people are afraid of greenline scandal of OnePlus

PureOS, 17 Jan 2025Who on earth would buy iphone in China, which is most versa... moreLots of people prefer Apple for whatever reason. The OS is definitely better for foreign apks as it's not blocked in China whereas all native Google android stuff is not usable in China without a Vpn. Therefore you are stuck with the native apks of the Android manufacturer. I find things like the cloud inconvenient. For example if I switch between Vivo, OPPO and Vivo, I need to have different cloud subscriptions for each instead of android abroad where I could just use Google drive for any of the different Android brands. My wife for example would never switch to Android. She doesn't care about the price as she'll just use an iPhone for 5 or 6 years and then change to the latest model when the current one is past its best. For flagships, Apple in the largest cities is extremely popular along with Huawei. Other ultra flagships have limited appeal in China. I don't see that many ultra's from Vivo, OPPO and Xiaomi. I think they sell quite a few of the standard model flagship series in the 4000-5000rmb price range but the ultra's are around 6500-8000 and for that price the majority of Chinese consumers will go for Apple or Huawei

insane stuff, Vivo's soaring and the market has supremely healthy competition.
Still, Apple's sales are insane. Their phones are super duper expensive in China by themselves and if you compare to other Chinese phones they're like close to double the price at times. Considering that, and the fact that they primarily make premium phones, them still having 15% share is insane. Ig the 16 series sales were the worst in China compared to last year and that's what spooked Apple the most.
Props to Huawei for doing what people WANT and getting better, Huawei's still alive! Kinda weird not seeing Xiaomi in the overall sales graph/charts. And it's kinda sad to see Oppo/Oneplus falter despite the excellent Find X7 Ultra and OP 12. Ig their other phones suck too much to garner huge sales lmao.
Would be really interested in seeing premium smartphone market share, how much of Vivo/Huawei's market share actually comes from their crazy flagships and stuff.

DeepIn2U, 17 Jan 2025Dear lord.
This has NOTHING to Do with Innovation. Like... moreVivo has the largest zoom cam and the best zoom cams on phones rn, THAT'S innovation. I don't really get your point. Yeah some things like charging speeds regressed but other innovations are still happening.
I think you're half right and half wrong. You're saying it's NOT about innovation and JUST about value. I'd argue it's BOTH innovation/changes compared to last year AND value.

rizki1, 17 Jan 2025yeah most Indonesians also don't care when our governm... moreBut they also raise prices every year in proportion to Samsung and Apple. All companies currently know that whatever product they release at a high price, people will buy it. And that's why we get new phones with no improvements at a higher price than last year. We need to stop buying for 1, 2 years in a row so that they get a little scared and start thinking at least a little about the consumers.

rizki1, 17 Jan 2025Looks like China doesn't care about Apple anymore..The sooner people realize this and stop buying based on Name/Famousness, the better for absolutely everyone. Because now the two most popular brands are selling their phones at 2 times higher prices than they should be because of the "fictional status" of having their phone, and not because of what they offer you. And that's why the Chinese are filling the hole in the price difference by also increasing the prices of their products. Stop being a fan, start buying with your mind and all manufacturers will be forced to comply by starting to make phones with more innovations at more competitive prices, so that they can convince people to buy them. Win/Win for all consumers, not for corporations!
