erodhika94, 18 Jan 2025and about those apps being banned first, china has the alt... moreAs far as I know VPNs are illegal in China except for business use for businesses that have exemptions e.g. Universities and many foreign companies that need access to banned western websites like Google. It's not really enforced though and mostly the authorities just try to block the VPNs (successfully in many cases). Sites to buy most major VPNs are blocked to so you need to have a VPN to be able to download one or else you need to download one outside China. You won't even need a VPN to access TikTok in the US though. It's basically just being removed from app stores so it'll work fine without a VPN unless TikTok decides to not make it accessible in the US. Not a fan of this banning though. It seems totally political to me

Tiktok on the otherhand complied to US laws but then become so big & dominant than their competition(Facebook, X, Youtube, etc.) hence they got banned just like Huawei. So much for the so called free market.

Maybe you could register on Xiaohongshu and ask Chinese people directly like what most americans do right now.

I'm all for the ban, do it everywhere! Why are people acting like this is such a big deal. It's just a crappy video sharing app, nothing new. Apps come and go, why are people so bound to crap like that? If your only source of income is making stupid short videos on an app then you should find better things to do in life
