I don't see any difference to S24 Ultra camera which I have for about a year now and I really don't like. Except maybe for the Ultrawide which I never use and don't care about.
In the meantime the chinese brands like Vivo, Honor etc are leagues ahead and constantly extend their lead while Samsung gives us basically the same thing since 5 years.
Where is the 1/1.4" 3x telephoto with crop potential or the 1" main camera? I don't care for 200 shitty megapixels, but the tiny sensors in telephoto produce bad image quality, the 3x ist almost unuseable except in bright sunlight and is much more universal than the 5x which itself is not exactly stellar.
The only good thing Samsung has going for it is that Vivo doesn't sell in the western countries, otherwise they would have a problem.

jiyen235, 23 Jan 2025even Apple's jealous! Because i like it or not, Apple ... moreOne thing you didn't specify - Apple has perfected animations. I haven't seen anything exceptional about Apple videography (the colors are extremely bright and unnatural to my tastes), but they're seamless with zooming, unlike most flagships. That makes them appear as if they're relying on steroids, but that's also something a lot of brands fail to implement.
Apart from that, their performance is exceptional, only because of extreme restrictions (a scientific law comes to play), not their hardware. Their chipsets are technically less powerful compared to the average theoretically (a Helio X10 would make sense in this comparison), but they've kept restrictions to a maximum to make their phones perform, as their chipsets are notably cost-effective to manufacture.
Also, their vibrators feel world class due to their less latency. For instance, an average flagship would have a 0.1-0.5ms lag discrepancy compared to an Apple device. The best vibrators I've ever tried are those from Nokia devices, regardless of the OS they run on. They're tinier in size, but are effective for almost anything.
Aside from that, Apple's 60Hz displays feel very sluggish to me (judging by my hands-on experience with demo units and other devices), since my current phone's 60Hz is yet to be matched.
And also, Apple and Samsung rely on Wingtech for their designs and manufacturing (unless you count the contract manufacturers under Wingtech's ownership), so their colours and build quality aren't different from each other. They do have different battery suppliers, despite having the same battery type for all devices (Li-Ion).

Can the Ultrawide do sweep panoramas like any iPhone can, though. That IS the question

Minu, 23 Jan 2025I love the fact that they're only raking in profit whi... moreeven Apple's jealous! Because i like it or not, Apple has or had SOME industry leading stuff for example their own chips were the fastest all the time, their videography is still basically unbeaten and most don't mention it but Apple's vibration motor is world class. I was stunned when i tried my dad's phone after using mine, it felt like a whole different tier of quality in terms of vibration. There's a video done by HuashengTest/Peanut Talks on YT and it showed that Apple's vibration motor is like 50-75% larger than Samsung's one and only Oneplus's motor is close in size. Not to mention the fact that iPhones have had far superior battery life for a while now, the 11 Pro Max and 13 Pro Max made huge strides.
Due to Samsung not posing much of a threat, or perhaps due to an agreement between them, both of them stagnated and started having eerily similar features. It can also be seen in Samsung's selection of colors, look at the S22/S21 series phones and their pretty colors and then look at the later ones. Bland and feel lifeless. Like some robot designed them, not a human.
And yeah! I'm curious about what compromises they made to reduce the weight. As we know, nothing in life is truly free, so im interested in seeing how the phone holds up.

jiyen235, 22 Jan 2025The UW cam's shots look like a slight processing tweak... moreI love the fact that they're only raking in profit while not even maintaining a standard or reason to consider their flagships in the first place.
The camera setups are the mostly the same, the bill of materials haven't gone beyond the US$200 threshold, notable compromises on the frame and glass panels to bring the weight down, all of that with a decades-old Li-Ion battery without using a Li-Po battery minimum, worse colour choices compared to previous iterations and using Wingtech for 8 years in a row, without using the trusty Sprocomm for manufacturing (which was fired after the Note 7 fiasco because of Samsung's reluctantly to switch to Li-Po batteries and significant cost cutting). There's enough reasons already to consider a different brand of choice.

First of all, only psychopaths upload pictures like that.
Secondly, I don't see much difference between the S24 and S25, just a bit more clarity.
Thirdly, why are they shaped like that, and where is the iconic brick-shaped design?

PeterThePanda, 23 Jan 2025This is basically the S22 Ultra (Gen 3), with no significa... moreThe improvements on the s25u are good and noticeable definitely a noticeable upgrade over its predecessor.

will samsung degrade my s24u camera just to make s25u better?
At least s23u to 24u upgrade had few major changes like flat screen, anti reflective coating and better battery life.

I'm quite impressed with the Galaxy S25 results. Samsung appears to actually be improving the image processing with each new generation unlike Apple who are keeping their photo results pretty consistent between the latest generations.
I have to disagree about the S24 Ultra providing better 30x zoom photos, the leaves on the plant look over-sharpened and waxy. The S25 Ultra shot looks much more natural.

A very minor software tweaking for all module except the ultrawide then... not even improvement and 24 ultra is already an exact copy of 23 ultra

I've made some comparisons side-by-side on my Odyssey G9 OLED. For once the aspect ration actually comes into play, aswell as the pretty accurate colors! Speaking of colors, the S25 Ultra shows better colors, they seem more true to tone and the overtuned red seems to be fixed, something that really bothered me on my S23 Ultra. Consistency across cameras also seems good, which was pretty bad on the S23 Ultra. Macro is especially good, it looks lifeless on the S24 Ultra aswell as less detailed. UItrawide may need some software tweaks but I see the potential. Overall, I'm pleased, the differences aren't big, but they're welcome, subtle improvements even on the lenses both share. Also, these are results of a suboptimal location and with pre-release software, probably, so they may very well be improved upon release.
People love to be negative about this phone release and I get it. Samsung could have done much more but didn't. So far, it still seems good, even if it is not much. This phone isn't for those posers upgrading every year for no real reason, it's for those coming from older phones, where subtle improvements and consistency are better than experiments that may fail, there's a reason they first test that stuff on the S25 Edge. Don't like this? Wait until the S26 series, where I expect much bigger overall changes.

This is basically the S22 Ultra (Gen 3), with no significant changes since 2022, only slight design tweaks and SoC updates.
How embarrassing that they're being beaten by other Android OEMs and even the iPhone when it comes to camera quality and battery life. xD

As expected. It almost has almost similar cameras as the predecessor. Can't even compete with last year's 1 inch sensor flagship phones

To me, the S25 Ultra photos do look better overall. Especially the 3x ones and the macro. No massive change but that's to be expected, as long as processing speed is improved and color rendering is improved over my S23 Ultra, I am happy
