RCS is really buggy. Revert to email if you actually want your friends to get your messages.

Samsung messages has a 'select-all' feature, which Google removed to be more like Apple.

Samsung's Messages isn't amazing.
But it's miles better than Google's spyware crap.
Seems TM Roh isn't only committed to copying the iPhone, they're also trying to throw people into Google's spyware apps.
And they wonder why their sales are on the decline...

Well, I guess it's inevitable, considering Samsung has used Google Messages as the default for years now (and majority of people don't change the defaults). I like Google Messages for its spam filtering, but it's really user hostile, always forcing users to link with the app their Google account by default, and turning on RCS without user permission.

Tbh I've tried using Samsung messages for a day and it felt inferior to the Google app.
However the other Samsung apps are better than the Google ones: calendar, calculator, music, gallery, clock, contacts, files, wallet (as barely any bank supports Google Pay in my country while Samsung Pay is more available).

Chat isn't the best. Half the time the number saved is wrong and will not let you change it. Last time I checked, there isn't a scheduled message function on Google which is important to me (may not be for you).

The celebratory comment for losing a "duplicate" app is unusual. Android has given manufacturers a way to design and develop a device within their vision, so alternative apps are expected. I have been happily using Samsung Messages app rather than Google's. In fact RCS on Samsung's app works better with Windows Phone Link in my experience.

Samsung is removing the reasons to buy them over another Android OEM.
WHAT a way to tank your brand

Oh, dear. I was afraid of this; already on older Galaxy S models still supported by Samsung, they were prompting me to convert to Google Messages, and I kept declining the offer because I want to use as little Google as possible, Android OS notwithstanding. I prefer using Samsung's own Messages system over the Google one, so I guess if I ever need to upgrade in the future, I'll either be looking for a third-party app or finding a way to sideload the old Messages app.

Baffling wording from GSMARENA. They're happy another "duplicate app" is gone but then say othe messaging apps exist, which wouod then also be duplicate apps. What nonsense. Samsung Messages is miles better than Googles app.

eww
This reminds me of Google pushing all their useless apps around the time Nougat came out.
There was Books, Movies, Photos, TV, Meet, Hangout, Google+, etc.
From those, Books reverted to being a store, Movies had the same fate while the others kind of died luckily.
Photos had a terrible ui and design at the time, which made me hate it so much. You could only see your Cloud stuff mixed up with local albums and it was such a mess if you wanted to just keep one or the other

Anonymous, 23 Jan 2025If you dont get it, then you shouldnt comment. They push go... moreIf you live under the rock and dont know that every app and even the operation system with heavy skin on it still have the built in data collecting system in the base Android that belongs to google. So even with your specific Samsung apps data can be collected by Android.
Even if not then why is it tolerable to accept that Samsung collects data and it's better then it's done by google ? While South Korea is a dog for USA that barks when ordered like all the allies to USA.

Anonymous, 23 Jan 2025Dont be so hard on him. He didnt read the article. Gsmarena... moreFirst of i read the article.
Secondly i wrote answer to a comment.
Thirdly if you are so afraid and paranoid about google then why do you still use play store ??
The comment i replied to was saying that Samsung force you to do something just like Apple force people to use their own messenger app and messages cant come trough that are not trough the same app so they basically force you to have only apple device to apple device communication. Samsung just removed the app from their system.
Never mind that SMS works without internet as that is something you sent trough your carrier that give you the phone number.
That SMS is still used only in the feature phones. Everyone with smartphone have all types of different messenger apps.
Step out of your own fantasy and stop fantasizing what other people do or dont. Read the comment first that got the reply and then judge. When the comment got not much to do with the article then why would reply to it got to do with the article much also ?

Google messages does not have a recycle bin like Samsung messages will miss that.
