And of course NO SPECIFIC details of migration of keeping SMS MMS and RCS message history intake! Espefially when it comes to porting to and from ios and if older imports or expirts are included in line per date without issue

I've been using only Truecaller for calls and messages since like 2017 as my default. Will never change that.

So now begins the pushing for AI and other garbage to users. Mandatory google and other crapware products will surface more in the future I suspect. It's a good time to jump the ship.

So now Google gets ALL your RCS messages to their server, stores them and trains their AI on them.
You can of course, revert back to older version of Messages and use plain old SMS, but who wants that?

That is bad for me because i dont like to use google apps if i want it i can buy pixel or other phone rather than galaxy. Samsung should not give up its main apps for Google if give it up it will be like any other Android phone.

walkman8, 23 Jan 2025Here's the thing. Samsung Messages is also ditching RC... moreWell they just removed the app so your not forced on anything.
Forced would be when Samsung Message would be the only message app you can use. That is more of the Apple case how they force people to use only their apps.
I anyways have different texting apps. The main app that is on the phone i hardly ever use it. Never mind that SMS sent cost money while the apps that need only internet dont cost money on sending text or pictures.
Why SMS is still useful at least for me who orders stuff to post box that needs key code numbers sent by the post box to get my package from it

I knew this obviously nitpicking, but Samsung is basically the last bastion of Android OEM which truly is unique to their own in term of the non-Google Android experience. Before this all the other Android skin basically start replacing their native apps with Google one. Now obviously there is nothing wrong with it, but from aesthetic and consistency point of view, it just doesn't look "right".
Obviously unlike other OEM, Samsung still allow us to download these apps until they officially pulled it down (Video apps) or they stop developing it. Sure enough some OEM like HONOR MagicOS has at least reskin the Google apps to make it look more native, which is better than nothing. But other skin like Xiaomi HyperOS which replaced with the Google apps really look inconsistent in my opinion as it doesn't match with the design language of HyperOS. Worst, the theme doesn't even apply to some of these apps. If I want to use pure Google services then I would rather go for either Pixel or any other stock Android device.

Samsung remove the Samsun... moreHere's the thing. Samsung Messages is also ditching RCS support.
So you're practically forced to switch to the Google alternative if you don't want to go back to the SMS era.

Anonymous, 23 Jan 2025Samsung is turning into Apple. Now the company will decide ... moreI dont get what you talk about.
Samsung remove the Samsung Message app and you talk they are forcing you on something ?
You can still download the Samsung Message app if you want it or get a different app for it.
You basically get a phone without the app so you are not forced to use anything. Like the problem people have who want stock android is to not have any brand specific apps preinstalled on the phone in the first place so it's all good that you dont need to install the app you never will use anyways

Didn't we just learn that Google bribes companies to put Google apps over everything else?

Now clean up these tricks: (1) Samsung apps are not clearly identified as Samsung to confuse consumers; (2) Samsung apps are difficult for consumers to uninstall or disable; (3) It is nearly impossible to disable Samsung version of Android and Samsung apps from harvesting consumer personal information; (4) with the introduction of AI, apps should be required to display a numeric probabilistic rating (%) associated with each prompt response. (5) repeat for all.
