Because prehistoric Galaxy S2 had partitioned storage which was wiped when being flashed with alternate ROMs that did not use partitioned storage. And repartitioned when factory restoring. Claiming it can't be done is absolute BS. Because I had the S2 and I was doing just that. Samsung being the maker of the phone they have all the access and control over it. They are just too lazy and cheap to do it. That's the fact, not the "capability".

        I remember being impressed with this feature on the original Pixel, waaay back in 2016 when Google made it available for everyone.

                    You can schedule the update to install at 2am, so done while you're asleep. I don't see the benefit of a seamless update.

                      I'm sure it's technically doable, but since it involves creating a new partition on a system level, it might probably have to delete user data, which Samsung would probably not do to avoid consumer complaints.

It reduces the risk of bricking if there's something wrong with the update as the old OS installation is still there on the other partition. So I'm all for it.

Ive done a race with my s23 ultra and an iphone 15. 23 Ultra finished updating before iphone even began to reboot.

                                    Does it have option in settings like xiaomi and Motorola (in developer options)?
                                    If it's not in settings of nothing ui then which 3rd party is best?

                                      Seamless updates are the most useless thing to ever exist.
                                      Overnight update is better than wasting gigabytes of flash memory.
                                      Android occupies 21GB on my 128GB Moto Edge 30 Fusion, pretty sure the OS can be fit under 10GB easily. More space for my stuff like photos etc.
