Our updated Realme 14 Pro+ battery life results are in

The unusually low previous results can be attributed to a software glitch resolved with new firmware.

realme 14 pro plus: (6000 mah battery): 14 hours score

Moto edge 50 neo (4300 mah battery): 13 hours score 🙃

Something is still fishy about that big battery endurance

So GSMArena actually reads our comments 🙏

Thanks for the update and for the explanation.

Truth is, bugs like these happen all the time. Sometimes it isn't even the phone OS that is to blame.

I once had an issue with my Poco F1 that suddenly started heating up and had to be charged 2 - 3 times a day - even with moderate use.

I finally narrowed the problem down to a recent Whatsapp update from the Play Store that was buggy. I reported it in the Play Store comments under the app, and gave it a 2 star rating to get some attention. Nonetheless, it kept on burning through my battery for months. Reboots, factory resets, the works. Nothing helped. The app was updated 2, 3, then even 4 times, but the issue remained.

Then, about 3 months after the issue began, yet another new Whatsapp version was released, and all of a sudden everything went back to normal and the phone was running cool again, and the battery life went back to normal.

Turns out I was another victim of Android fragmentation that almost certainly sent my Poco F1's battery to an earlier grave in terms of cycle life (charging it 3 times a day for months).

Point being, these things happen on Android especially, and I would expect that they would happen the most often on new devices as compatibility issues are worked out between new chipsets running established applications etc.

It will always be hard to isolate them, but if you have a new phone, and a specific app is showing as eating a ton of battery power in your phone's battery settings, and if the device is warm to the touch - even when not in use - I'd say that those are red flags to look out for during battery life tests especially.

But ultimately, these things are not under our control.

Phew. Thanks for the clarification. So it remains true that HyperOS is indeed trash. 😆

Now that's more like it. Thanks for listening to your users, those old results were just nonsensical.

And our faith in the big battery is restored.

Hmm. It seems like Realme is having a bad time.

WW3, 31 Jan 2025Since the battery capcity is 6000 mah. The active use score... moreThen it requires 1080p screen, LTPO and weaker SoC. This battery test app love with LTPO panel.. because most phone with LTPO get good battery.

Since the battery capcity is 6000 mah. The active use score should be around 15 or 16 hours ( depends in skin os or processor)

Now that's miles better, thank you for the updated tests!

MICHAEL BEVAN 1, 31 Jan 2025Hey GSMArena team! What the hell was wrong with the last ... moreGet a grip they redid the test so what's your problem?? Wasn't their fault the handset was dodgy it's just a phone stop crying over it

MICHAEL BEVAN 1, 31 Jan 2025Hey GSMArena team! What the hell was wrong with the last ... moreThey literally said it was a software glitch. They couldn't have possibly known that unless they tested the battery endurance, which they did, they had unusually low results, and they (and other users) found it hard to believe that a 6000mAh battery would deliver such poor battery life. And so they looked into it and discovered the glitch.

A much better score after the update but I think it still needs more optimizations.

The phone already gives me satisfactory battery life but my cousin has the OnePlus 13 which uses the same battery tech, same battery capacity and same ColorOS (OxygenOS and realmeui both are essentially ColorOS with minor tweaks) and he told me his OP13 battery life gets better and better with every update so maybe it's the new technology that needs proper optimization and it'll take its time to reach its full potential.

                                Dear GSMArena,
I enjoy reading your tests. But please. You could have figured it out, even if nobody here had complained.
It's obvious that the battery life can't be worse than its predecessor.
But thanks for the correction anyway.

                                  Hey GSMArena team!
What the hell was wrong with the last test?
Have you done something tricky to astray us away from this handset?
We've already seen that how you carried out apple iphone 16 pro max's review. I've retested your whole misconduct in that segment.
But this is not fair we have a true faith in your website but if you show this type of ignorance and failure we'll certainly switch to other sites.

yes, order of the universe has indeed been restored 🙂

Yeap..we know it was and still is the software.. that's why many avoid phones from vendors, who have bad software development history

I would have still expected a higher run time from a 6000mAh unit, but hey, it's a lot better than the numbers we got before.
