Ultra power hungry.

raditz594, 29 Jan 2025Does the S25U have the anti-glare coating on it?It is not coating, it is nature of glass itself.

Still extremely wrongly calibrated ( vivid + warm + punchy) like all past samsung phones?

Graininess on an AMOLED? I guess I never knew that such a display could also suffer an age-old issue like picture grain. In fact, I hardly ever notice it on my S23, but then again, I don't use it with such low brightness anyway.

vik457, 29 Jan 2025So what needs to change? Perhaps display chips on more effi... moreThe power increase is probably still large enough to be unavoidable even on a smaller node, so multiple things have to be done. Basically:
Smaller node + phosphorescent blue LEDs + tandem display = (probably) achievable native 10-bit panel with 3000+Hz PWM dimming
Besides that, though, if the issue is yields, then evaporative inkjet printing would eliminate such an issue, and would bring down costs very significantly. It would also allow for true RGB subpixel layouts, so 1440p resolutions would no longer be needed, thus improving power efficiency and consumption, and lowering heat generated, which again would alleviate potential burn-in concerns that a native 10-bit panel with 3000+Hz PWM dimming rates might cause.

Anonymous, 29 Jan 2025For the same reason that a matte screen protector is grainy. No clue why someone down voted it. I guess people are just not smart. The foil\ display has tiny divets and such, like very fine sandpaper, which breaks how the light reflects, reducing reflections.

Could just be display calibration improvements being done for the S25 Ultra.
