Apple reports all-time high revenues despite underwhelming iPhone sales in Q1

Apple manages to make boatloads of money. Looking at everything Apple is holding its own and more on its product segments. I do think on the hardware side of things it does get harder to convince consumers on upgrades. The service sector does well because the majority of hardware Apple sells is iPhones and iPads. I suppose this is a good argument for Apple to continue moving MacOS to a more Apple Store platform. Obviously services are a constant revenue stream.

Lordvoldemor, 8 hours agoif people are buying regardless, it should be looked deeply... moreBecause Apple devices were the first to become popular for being expensive (although Apple's devices were extremely bad and Apple almost went bankrupt because of this), Apple products are seen as status symbols. Moreover, because Apple is American, it profited a lot from USA's propagandistic depiction as the best country in the world. Last but not least, Apple released the first full-fledged smartphone and because people stick to one brand for the most time of their life, they continue to buy iPhones, no matter how crappy they might be.
Apple just lives from its artificially created reputation, there are many other companies out there offering even better products, but unfortunately they aren't called "Apple".

please dont bring up that smart people vs dumb debate. a lot of smart people (talking about real ones, not those living in basement and only job is to surf net whole day) also use apple and they are quite happy and probably would buy apple devices again.

a nice way to look at the real world scenario, not just tech world. being in the middle of the conservative vs liberal agendas, i personally find part of both of em brings good and vice-versa. however, people spends so much behind unnecessary objects and keeps complaining how they dont get enough. upgrading phone every year is such that we dont need for most of us. right? still, a lot do it. some services are necessary, some are good to have while some ( >50%) are mostly unnecessary and those bring so big revenue for the firms.
we should look at the source of the problems. is it the "impulse"?

Apple Music I never subscribed except buying Apple Music Libraries but they all are gone not sure where (Apple supposed keep my purchases in my ID but not so), I subscribe to basic iCloud storage 50 GB. So, Apple services are getting them good money it seems. They have Apple News as well. There are quite a few bean counter subscriptions can fill the coffers for Apple with 2.5 billion iOS users! Not that much difficult! But iPhone going to be a dud in the coming years.

Apple TV+, Music and iCloud are things that I have heard about in commercials and news. But I have never heard other people talking about them. And now I read that Apple makes 26 billion dollars revenue with these three things. Damn, I never needed these services, I never thought of them being usefull or entertaining in any way. I watch films on Blu-ray, I listen to music from Youtube and I store my data on a hard drive. Let's say I am a bit old school although I am fairly young and the things I watch or listen to are of high quality and have a deeper meaning than the things on Apple TV or Music or whatever other service there is. I didn't know people paid so much money for brainrot.
And then they complain about their rent or their salary or politicians. They talk about this and that, about woke being good and conservative being bad, they protest, they shout around and in the end they are never satisfied and their pockets are empty because they care about problems that don't exist.

Can we take a moment to analyze this? The services revenue has risen and takes up a huge chunk of the total revenue now, that's INSANE! No wonder companies are going all in on games as a service/trying to make everything a service. Easy money.
What's even more surprising for me is the fact that Japan constitutes to 85% of the rest of the ASIA PACIFIC'S (excluding China) sales. THAT'S LUDICROUS. It's also crazy that despite being so much more expensive, Macs don't really outpace iPads by a huge margin, so ofc companies will focus on phones haha
And the wearables/accessories figures show WHY Apple ditched the headphone jack and other quality of life features, good for business.
Planned obsolescence doing its thing, you'll see that products which dont last long are the ones generating the most amount of revenue, it's not a coincidence. They're gonna keep milking their audience, keep learning how to milk from Samsung/teach others how to take advantage of customers in shadier ways and they're gonna keep reducing the lifespan of phones in practice, but they'll have long software support so that no one can argue in theory. You wont see any government banning production of Apple phones, money talks.

[deleted post]Again, the report indicates that other revenue streams such as services have grown sufficiently to be able to compensate for the dips in hardware sales. But I'm going to stop there as it’s obvious this is all just a bit over your head 🤷♂️

Some of hardware feature in Mac are even available on PC. Most of Apple Mac computer comes with blazing fast Thunderbolt. Try get Thunderbolt on PC, let see how much you have to burn your $$ to get one. Be it dedicated or slot in to the motherboard / main board of your PC.

The usual overpriced older features and hardware Apple is selling each year contributed much, it is still a big name brand out there, that's one thing we can't deny, but like any big name whatever they sell people will buy, Apple may not be selling as much per unit since last year but each unit price pretty much covered whatever expenses they had, i mean they calculated already obviously with millions of users around the world they gonna stay relevant for a long time, but i do dislike they way Apple is doing these scummy marketing tactics saying stuff like innovative whilst offering real time old hardware, an upgrade that should've been there at least 6-7 years ago, but when a brand is a household name like that i don't think you would care, people are buying regardless
