Anonymous, 05 Feb 2025I would much rather a phone be scratch-resistant than shatt... moreTo each their own I guess. I don't really care about micro-scratches, but i do drop my phone 4-5 times a year and i use cases only 30-40% of the time since I don't like using one.

But one easy way to get both worlds is to make the glass itself thicker. The Galaxy S9 has thicker glass than the S8 so it stood drops better.

perhaps the S24 Ultra's one was a fluke with a very good sample and this is how it's supposed to normally be? Whatever the case, everyone flaunted the enhanced durability of the S24 ultra last year, even that's not here.
A double whammy of a removed feature and reduced durability for higher prices (in some regions). If the pre-order sales news are to be believed then Samsung's winning, it's like using a cheat code in a game at this point, they get higher profits after cost cutting but people still keep buying.

I would much rather a phone be scratch-resistant than shatter-resistant. I'm too careful with my phone to drop it, but you can easily get micro-scratches from grit and sand in your pocket.
