Photo of the upcoming Oppo Find N5 shows only minimal crease

06 February 2025
Most of the teasers for the N5 so far had focused on how thin it is - but with foldable display tech improvements, Oppo has managed to nearly eliminate the crease.

Some phones focus on one over the other whereas, at least from my POV, they just do a little of everything quite well, though they're not really the best at anything. Which is why I like and respect em a lot and that's what I loved Samsung for, back in the day.

I doubt it would make a difference. When Counterpoint puts out figures, they highlight the top sellers. I doubt 1+ sold 100k, but my point isn't to get on them about sales.

It wasn't long ago Huawei, Samsung and Oppo were leading foldable sales in China. We have an idea why Samsung's shares fell. Oppo is a little more puzzling. They need to focus on obstacles that are right in front of them.

Vivo is known for their cameras. Xiaomi's auto industry is probably helping their brand cache. Huawei's been benefiting from nationalism. What's Oppo's angle? A better crease than Samsung? Motorola did that in 2020.

              I get it.

Now a greenline screen device comes in thinner size and can be folded.

I hope Oppo Find N5 Flip will have bigger battery, decent 3x telephoto camera and that it would come to more countries and soc would be latest flagship Snapdragon.

DBS, 06 Feb 2025To me it shows another pointlessly oversized gimmick. i'm yet to see a level headed take from you. Your opinions are objectively trash lmao

ua82, 06 Feb 2025Green line is an none issue they don't use Samsung dis... moreI think that some phones are far more prone to issues than others. For example the Oneplus 9 and 10 series phones were quite greenline prone. Then some of the midrange phones in the 11 series's year were also suffering from that. But that was far lower compared to the past ones. I've seen a large chunk of Samsung and Apple phones have issues as well.

So in short, I don't think it's a Samsung or BOE thing, it just happens sometimes due to faulty manufacturing. Samsung had the Note7 incident, Apple had the iPhone bendgate incident and Oneplus had the greenline incident. I just think stuff like this just happens, what's more important is how the company handles it and Oneplus completely missed the mark till last year when they magically started acting better after their sales were tanking globally.

Not sure in a fan of the size. This isnt like candy bar phones, the larger n skinner these foldable aka communicator style phones are the more fragile n susceptible to damage they become. Regardless of materials used pyshics will show likits of costs and strength become polar opposites.

Sad becauee this waslooking to be a stellar device.
