    sixtymes, 12 Feb 2025I wonder why no AV1 ?Looks like Qualcomm is the number one contributor to the VVC patent pool. So even if AV1 is free, they want to promote the codec that requires others to pay them. Explains why even the 8 series chips lacked AV1 for a long time.

                  Holy Moly! Snapdragon 865 performance in just USD 150.
                  Now Mediatek has to counter with a very strong contendor.

                  Expecting...
                  Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 being countered with Dimensity 7400, which will jump the performance to near SD 8 Gen 1 levels.

                  Meanwhile that means that Dimensity 8400 will be on point in range to be targeted not only by the 8s Elite but also 7 Gen 4 which should target 8+ Gen 1 tier.

                  So the tier would be:
                  8 Elite - Dimensity 9400
                  8s Elite - Dimensity 8400
                  7 Gen 4
                  Dimensity 7400 (potential)
                  6 Gen 4
                  Dimensity 6400 (potential)

                            how many corners will Realme/Oppo/Honor cut, then? I'm guessing the camera department will be cut first, followed by build quality and updates.

                              I can't wait for Motorola to spam this Chipset.
