OnePlus Open 2 is not launching this year

13 February 2025
The brand is not quitting the foldable segment but rather "recalibrating for innovation".

The Tariffs are probably a small part to blame for this as well. I could see this affecting the pricing of the Open 2 forcing them to adopt a higher price than the Z fold 6. There is a limit to how much Oneplus can eat the cost themselves before Oneplus is forced to increase prices. I was really looking forward to this phone too because I didn't want the Fold 6 but now I'm kinda forced to buy the Fold 6

It sounds like OnePlus wants to make its foldable phone from the ground up. Or maybe because there will be the OnePlus V Flip later in the year probably, who knows.

Anonymous, 14 Feb 2025Reason why OnePlus Open is flop-able phone of the year: ... moreAwww, did someone get their feelings hurt? Nobody, and I mean nobody, not even Fold6 users like that atrocious super narrow cover display. Lol, it's a total joke.

PanRT, 13 Feb 2025Oppo release this foldable global.. No need two same foldable.True but oneplus are more generous than oppo, especially in the west. There's usually better sales and they have better freebies with their purchase.

          No-one and I mean no-one wants an N-Flip.
The last one was a fail in sales numbers.

What benefit does anyone get from a practically unusable front screen and the requirement to always unfold to use their device?

Extra steps and impractical constraints make for a useless product.

Like not even trying for a foldable at all with a possible N5 Flip ! Which PERFECTLY aligns with their direction.

But OOOOOH blue Colour phone and LAST YEARS buds in blue supposedly alings with Never Settle mantra?!

I've been holding on to my OnePlus 7 pro for a long time now. Only recently I've been impressed with the open but I was disappointed that it was released with an out going soc and then the 13 ticked every box but there's no 1tb option available to the UK. Now this news has annoyed me. All I've been looking for is 1tb storage and it's starting to look like I'm going to have to look elsewhere. I've held out for 2 years for this to drop and I'm starting to wonder what's the point of OnePlus. The whole purpose behind it was to export oppo devices under a different name to the international market only to prioritise the Chinese market for some reason. Whoever is making these decisions at oppo needs to start clarifying what the point of OnePlus is now because it's not just for the international market and it's doesn't seem to be used as a lesser brand like Huawei and honor.
