OnePlus Open 2 is not launching this year

Firstly, it's a good thing. I'd like to upgrade but what I've seen from the N5 there's need to switch from my current OnePlus Open. A bunch of nice to have upgrades. Good but not necessary.
Secondly, a new phone next year, with a significantly improved camera will be enough for me to switch/upgrade.
I expect, this year's processor in next years phone (fine with me, as my Open is no slouch today), whilst being N5 slim and with wireless charging (and hopefully a camera upgrade).
The camera is the main draw for me, and without a significant camera upgrade, I'll simply continue loving what I have. I guess I expect to see this year's processor and OnePlus 13's current camera... Would I upgrade.... Possibly.

Now it makes sense why Oppo posted that pic comparing the crease to the Z Fold.
The Open won't be the only foldable on the chopping block. DSCC wrote the following:
"On the other hand, we see Huawei releasing fewer models in 2025 with one less clamshell model and losing share. Other brands are also dropping models in 2025. In fact, we expect to see 32 different models shipping in 2025 vs. 41 in 2024."

Just give up, you're Oppo in disguise for western markets. Not sugarcoating this time that OP Open is good as gold

Anonymous, 13 Feb 2025Weird when it is just to change its logo .. Perhaps the original Open sales were so poor advertising costs etc doesn't warrant OP even selling just a rebranded N5? Regardless it seems a strange decision when the Open was so well received.

Hopefully that means that whatever foldable they release next time, it won't be a rebranded Oppo. Or any of their smartphones, for that matter.

Like I said before, if the Open is so good why is a negative that there isn't a new model yet? Why would throw away your still new and good foldable to waste money buying a newer model that will not bring anything substantially better to justify?
But also, anyway, the Find N is 99% the same device so you'll have your desired new Open, only with a different name and logo.

Well, this is actually very good. It's not good to release a phone like that every year.
Anyway, it doesn't actually match their "neve settle" mantra, because never settling would mean switching to a new device as soon as it's released.

Anonymous, 13 Feb 2025Weird when it is just to change its logo .. It's to do with Trumps tariffs.
Not worth the effort or risk.

ig they're saving the Oneplus Open 2 for a "top tier" foldable instead of one that's only focusing on thinness? Or maybe they want to try out a global Find N5 launch without Oneplus and see how that fares, perhaps to strengthen the Oppo brand image as being a flagship phone company.

I think they wanted to rebrand the N5, but realized that it would be a massive downgrade from the original Open, so they just scrapped the whole thing. Sad.

If oppo doesn't release the N5 in Europe I'm taking a very expensive flight to Asia.
